  • Patent number: 6508003
Abstract: An adapter is provided for removably coupling a saw, including a tang portion having an aperture formed therein, to a tool. The adapter includes a base member and a clip pivotally coupled to the base member. The base member has first and second ends, and first and second surfaces extending between therebetween. An opening is formed in the first and second surfaces of the base member, proximate the first end. The opening is adapted to receive an axle of the tool. The base member further includes a slot formed in the first surface and a projection extending in to the slot. The slot is adapted to receive the tang portion of the saw, and a projection is adapted to be received in the aperture to align the saw with the base member. The pivotally coupled clip is movable between a closed position, in which the saw is retained in and secured to the base member, and an open position, in which the saw is removable from the base member.

  • Patent number: 5946752
Abstract: A multi-function tool includes a spring biased implement which can be stored within the handle of the multi-function tool when not in use. The implement includes first and second members pivotally attached at a pivot. The implement further includes a spring rotatably attached to an axle extending across a channel-shaped handle of the multi-function tool. The spring includes a first end attached to the first member of the implement and an arm which biases the second member away from the first member to an open working position.

  • Patent number: 5511310
Abstract: A foldable hand tool, such as a pocket folding knife, includes a knife blade and a handle for storing the knife blade, and a pivotally biased lock bar to secure the blade in extended position. The knife also includes a pair of non-slip ridges mechanically interlocked with the handle in a region of the handle proximate to the blade when the blade is in stored position. The ridges, which project outwardly from the handle, are contoured to permit suitable engagement by the fingertips of a user's hand, thereby reducing slippage when the blade is extended from the stored position. The handle is formed of two keyed sections firmly assembled together by cooperation of a lock bar biasing spring with coaxially aligned holes formed in the keyed regions of the handle sections.

  • Patent number: 5212844
Abstract: The present invention is a combination tool that includes a pair of retractable jaws capable of being moved into an exposed operating position by inertial force using a single hand. The tool includes a single compact unit with, on one end of the handles, pivoted jaws sliding into and out of the handles and, at the distal end of the handles, a selected group of pivotally attached tools that perform various functions. Each of these pivotally attached tools is housed within one of the handles when not in use.
