Abstract: A method and system for serving assets is disclosed, comprising receiving an asset request to serve an asset, wherein the asset request originates at an application, and wherein the asset request comprises an advertisement of an asset to be served and a request for the network address of an asset server configured to serve the requested asset. The method further comprises causing a service discovery server to identify an asset server configured to serve the requested asset, and causing the requested asset to be served to the application.

Abstract: In methods and apparatus for providing communications to a telecommunications terminal, a request for a page of data is received at a data service node, the request specifying at least one particular terminal. A terminal status request is sent from the data service node to a communications system which serves the particular terminal, the terminal status request specifying the particular terminal. The data service node receives from the communications system a terminal status message containing information indicating a current status of the particular terminal. The data service node sends to the data terminal a page of data indicating the current status of the particular terminal. The page of data comprises a communications request icon when the particular terminal is in a state in which it can communications.

Abstract: An integrated voice and packet data telecommunications system has at least one dual mode channel. The system comprises a plurality of transceivers, at least one transceiver being operable to transmit and receive voice traffic on the dual mode channel, and at least one transceiver being operable to transmit and receive packet data traffic on the dual mode channel. The system further comprises a controller for controlling the transceivers so as to allocate the dual mode channel either to voice communications or to packet data communications. The controller responds to changing demand for voice channels and packet data channels by changing dynamically the allocation of the dual mode channel. The system is particularly useful for providing Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) services.
