  • Publication number: 20040132555
Abstract: One or more lasers are used to create cones of laser light of varying angles. The lasers are visible on the flat surface as a series of arcs or complete circles of varying radius. In one embodiment, consecutive arcs spaced from a center on a perfectly flat surface increase in radius by a predetermined or constant amount. When the surface is not flat, but has a slope, the radius of adjacent circles become closer or further from each other, creating a virtual relief map appearance.

  • Patent number: 5867223
Abstract: A home entertainment and information system is provided which assigns and transmits audio programming to audio output devices. Digital and analog signals from a variety of program sources are received by the home entertainment and information system. The system assigns and transmits to an audio output device a program that is distinct from programs assigned and transmitted to other audio output devices within the same system, and thus where two users are viewing different programs visually displayed on the same or different monitors, they hear the audio portion of the respective program they are viewing through individual audio output devices. An audio output device is also assignable to a remote control device such that when a program is selected using the remote control device, the audio portion of the program is transmitted to the assigned audio output device.

  • Patent number: 5823590
Abstract: An adjustable length pole has an attachment with at least two fingers which are moveable to provide gripping force. In one embodiment, the fingers are opposed digits which are moveable toward each other to a closed position. The fingers are hinged, and at least one of the fingers is attached to a cord which is operable to move an end of the finger toward an end of the other finger. In a further embodiment, a spring is provided to bias the fingers in an open position. The cord is threaded through the middle of the telescoping pole to help prevent it from becoming tangled in tree branches. Further, a portion of the cord comprises a spring mechanism such as an elastic material to enable a user to set a desired tension for the fingers. Hooks are provided on the telescoping pole to secure the cord and allow two handed manipulation of the pole while the fingers retain desired tension on an object to be moved.

  • Patent number: 5276869
Abstract: A selective review and electronic corroboration of invention disclosure documents within a distributed data processing system. A selected document is identified and a document profile is created, including at least an identification of the technical or functional area disclosed within that document. Thereafter, the document and document profile are transmitted to an evaluation facility where a unique identifier is assigned to the document and the document is then automatically distributed to a preselected list of users, in accordance with the technical or administrative area information contained within the document profile. Each recipient of the document is then prompted to enter an indication of having read and understood the document at his or her computer terminal. Positive responses to this prompt are then stored in association with the uniquely identified document so that the document may be electronically corroborated at a subsequent time by a reference thereto.
