Publication number: 20220181940Abstract: A device for rotary or linear position sensing includes a stator with a plurality of teeth, an excitation winding wrapped around at least some of the plurality of teeth, and multiple sense windings for detecting changes in voltage output. The windings are in two sets in which each set can independently determine the change in voltage output. A control circuit generates a first output signal representing a relative position of the stator based on excitation of the first sense winding set by the excitation winding and a second output signal representing a relative position of the stator based on excitation of the second sense winding set by the excitation winding.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2021Publication date: June 9, 2022Inventors: Jonathan Wagner, Martin van der Geest, Jessica Colton, Bradley Landseadel

Patent number: 10245961Abstract: An inverter-charger combination includes plurality of first and second switching elements, a capacitor, and a dual active bridge, connected in parallel to one another. The first and the second switching elements are connected in series to form switching subassemblies that are disposed in parallel and are connected to an AC source. Each of the first and the second switching elements has a first and a second contactor, and, when the first contactor is open and the second contactor is closed, an electric current flows from a rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) in direct current form to a load in AC form through the switching subassemblies to provide power to the load, and when the first contactor is closed and the second contractor is open, an electric current flows from the AC source in AC form to the RESS in DC form through the switching subassemblies to charge the RESS.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2017Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Inventor: Bradley A. Patent number: 5153492Abstract: The servo amplifier is used for driving power transistors supplying current to a D.C. servo motor. The servo amplifier includes a control signal input; a tach signal input; circuitry coupled to the inputs for creating an error signal between the control signal and the tach signal; a triangular wave generator for generating a triangular wave form; a summing network for summing the error signal with the triangular wave; a modulator for modulating the resultanat signal; tri-state drive logic circuitry; and power transistor drive circuitry adapted to be coupled to the power transistors. The triangular wave modulator is coupled to the output of the summing network for supplying modulated signals to the tri-state drive logic circuitry and the drive logic circuitry having outputs coupled to the drive circuitry. The tri-state drive logic circuitry provides fast response to the error signals indicating a desired change in speed of the D.C. motor, and without over-shoot or hunting of the D.C. servo motor.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1989Date of Patent: October 6, 1992Assignee: MSI CorporationInventor: Bradley A. Patent number: 4906876Abstract: The base drive circuit is used to drive a bipolar power switching device of the type which includes a collector, a base and an emitter (or equivalents thereto). The drive circuit includes first and second electronic switches. The first electronic switch is coupled between the collector and the base of the power switching device. The second electronic switch is coupled between the base of the power switching device and a negative voltage source which is negative with reference to the emitter voltage. The first electronic switch has a gate and the second electronic switch has a gate and both gates are connected together. A resistor is coupled between the gates of the first and second switches and a positive voltage source. A control electronic switch is connected between the gates and the negative voltage source, the electronic control switch being responsive to a control input signal.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1988Date of Patent: March 6, 1990Assignee: MSI CorporationInventor: Bradley A.
