Publication number: 20210246491Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for amplifying a plurality of targets in a single PCR run while distinguishing between clinically relevant amplification and amplification from other sources such as from background contamination. The methods and devices further enable discrimination between gram-positive, gram-negative and fungal infections as wells as identify antimicrobial resistance genes. When applying the methods and devices of the invention, the species or genus of an infection(s), and genus of a fungal co-infection(s) or category of bacterial (gram-positive or negative) co-infection(s) are identified. Species identification of co-infections can also be achieved. Further, when applying the methods and devices of the invention, organisms which are likely to be contaminating organisms from a blood draw are identified.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2021Publication date: August 12, 2021Applicant: Clinical Micro Sensors, Inc. (dba GenMark Diagnostics, Inc.)Inventors: Lisa Lynn Freeman-Cook, Christine J. Shaw, Milena Iacobelli Martinez, Anna Maria Al-Khouri, Bradley Adam Brown, John Jay Harvey, Michael Thomas Nguyen

Publication number: 20170246046Abstract: Pant-like absorbent articles having handles on side panels of the article for ease of removal and donning of the absorbent garment and a method for forming is disclosed herein. The article includes a front waist region, a back waist region, and a chassis extending longitudinally between and interconnecting the front and back waist regions attached by at least one side panel. Formed within the side panel is at least one handle. The handle includes a slit formed through the side panel, the slit extending in both the longitudinal and lateral direction to provide a flap material. The flap material is folded towards the waist edge of the side panel to provide an aperture in the side panel.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2015Publication date: August 31, 2017Inventors: Julie Ann Paveletzke, Andrew Mark Long, Joseph Daniel Coenen, Bradley Adam Colvin, Joseph Charles Herb, Adam Edward Suttner, Christopher Peter Olson

Patent number: 9367877Abstract: A communication device may receive an employee skill certification badge request for: (i) a first employee of an insurance enterprise, and (ii) a first employee skill category of a plurality of potential categories. Information about the received may be stored, and a badge server may gather and store data (e.g., quantitative and/or qualitative data) in an electronic evidence file based the first employee's interactions with customers during normal performance of his or her employment. A first manager of the first employee may be determined, and the badge server may receive from the first manager an indication that the electronic evidence file meets a threshold criteria. Responsive to the received indication, the badge server may associate the first employee with the first employee skill certification badge and transmit data to cause display of an icon associated with the first employee skill certification badge on other remote devices.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2015Date of Patent: June 14, 2016Assignee: HARTFORD FIRE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Jason K. Publication number: 20080262328Abstract: A probe for use with a pulse oximeter apparatus is disclosed, as are a fixture for and a method of making the probe. The probe includes a housing and two fiber optic bundles. The first bundle has an emitter portion at one end, and is used for conducting light from a source thereof to the emitter portion from which the light is transmitted for transillumination through a body part. The second bundle is for conducting the transilluminated light incident upon a detector portion thereof to the pulse oximeter apparatus. The housing is overmolded onto the bundles so that the emitter and detector portions are securely positioned diametrically opposite each other across an opening defined by the housing. The overmolding makes the alignment of the emitter and detector portions largely impervious to movement of the body part when placed within the opening and thus between the emitter and detector portions.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2006Publication date: October 23, 2008Applicant: MEDRAD, INC.Inventor: Bradley Adams

Patent number: 7407777Abstract: Compounds, genetic constructs, and cancer treatment methods are provided. Expression vectors were designed to express fusion genes including hIL-2 with a Fc?-? transmembrane anchor derived from a subunit of the FC epsilon receptor. mRNA and the IL-2tm fusion protein was expressed in transfected RD995 tumor cells. Expression of the IL-2tm protein on the tumor cell surface membrane was confirmed by microscopy. RD995 cells transfected with IL-2tm or pCMV2b (empty expression vector) were implanted subcutaneously into C3H/HEN mice. Tumors of mice implanted with 106 or 105 RD995 cells transfected with IL-2tm grew slower than controls. It is believed that selective expression of cytokines such as IL-2 on the surface of tumors is likely to stimulate tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes that are primed and already recognize tumor antigens, enhancing tumor recognition and killing, potentially avoiding toxicity associated with known cytokine therapies.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2004Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: University of Utah Research FoundationInventors: Wolfram Samlowski, Nathan Bradley Adams, John McGregor
