  • Publication number: 20150381219
Abstract: Isolation circuits for digital communications and methods to provide isolation for digital communications are disclosed. An example isolation circuit includes an isolation barrier, a burst encoder in a first circuit, and an edge pattern detector in a second circuit. The example isolation barrier electrically isolates the first circuit from the second circuit. The example burst encoder generates a first pattern in response to receiving a rising edge on an input signal and generates a second pattern in response to receiving a falling edge on the input signal. The example edge pattern detector detects the first pattern or the second pattern received from the burst encoder via the isolation barrier, sets an output signal at a first signal level in response to detecting the first pattern, and sets the output signal at a second signal level in response to detecting the second pattern.

  • Patent number: 9209842
Abstract: Data transfer devices and methods for transferring data between first and second circuits are disclosed. A data transfer device includes a first circuit having a plurality of data channels, wherein at least one of the data channels is an active data channel. A serializer has a plurality of inputs and an output, wherein the inputs are coupled to the plurality of data channels. The serializer is for coupling only one active channel at a time to the output. An isolation barrier is coupled to the output of the serializer, the isolation attenuates transients and passes the fundamental frequency. A second circuit includes a deserializer having an input and at least one output, the input is coupled to the isolation barrier, the at least one output is at least one active data channel.

  • Patent number: 9188426
Abstract: A positional measuring device has a reference laser pointer and at least one measurement laser pointer. These laser pointers are positioned at a first end and a second end of a variable-length defining mechanism, a common example being a tape measure. The lasers are oriented in a direction which is perpendicular to the measurement axis of a user-specified length of the variable-length defining mechanism. The emission axis of each laser is thus parallel with each other. The lasers project onto a remote object. The laser pointers provide visual reference points that help a user ensure they are correctly measuring dimensions of an object. The distance between the laser pointers can easily be read via the variable-length defining mechanism. Because the lasers need to be parallel to each other and perpendicular to the user-specified length, a dual-axis liquid level is provided to ensure proper orientation of the positional measuring device.

  • Patent number: 9143100
Abstract: In an amplifier, a first stage receives a differential input voltage, which is formed by first and second input voltages, and outputs a first differential current in response thereto on first and second lines having respective first and second line voltages. A second stage receives the first and second line voltages and outputs a second differential current in response thereto on third and fourth lines having respective third and fourth line voltages. A transformer includes first and second coils. A first terminal of the first coil is coupled through a first resistor to the first line. A second terminal of the first coil is coupled through a second resistor to the second line. A first terminal of the second coil is coupled through a third resistor to the third line. • Patent number: 9108394
Abstract: A single facer media is provided according to the invention. The single facer media includes a fluted sheet attached to a facing sheet and having a first end and a second end so that when the single facer media is formed into a media pack, the first end or the second end forms a media pack first face, and the other of the first end or the second end forms a media pack second face. Adhesive is provided between the fluted sheet and the facing sheet at the first end or the second end, and wherein the fluted sheet and the facing sheet are pushed together and adhered together at the location of the adhesive to provide a seal between the fluted sheet and the facing sheet. At least 25% of the flutes of the fluted sheet comprise at least one ridge extending along at least 50% of the flute length between adjacent peaks. Filtration media packs, filter elements, and methods for forming a single facer media are provided.

  • Publication number: 20150165150
Abstract: A respiratory mask for delivery of pressurized gas to a patient. The respiratory mask has a rigid shield and an elastic cushion surrounding the shield, the cushion being configured to conform to facial contours of a patient. A port is provided in the cushion, the port being configured to receive an implement inserted into the port and to provide a substantially gas-tight seal about the periphery of an implement received in the port. The port may be located in an area of the cushion that allows for a relatively direct route to the nares of the patient of the patient to allow insertion of the NG tube into the patient's nares. Embodiments may include the port being a slit in the elastic cushion.

  • Patent number: 9020155
Abstract: An electrolarynx includes a motor having a locating diaphragm, a bobbin, and a magnetic assembly. The bobbin includes a striker and coil wires wound about a coil cylinder of an electromagnet. The locating diaphragm maintains the position of the bobbin along the longitudinal axis of the housing. The magnetic assembly includes a magnet and a non-magnetic guide disc that sandwiches the magnet to the housing. The magnet and the coil wires drive the striker and, in turn, a contact diaphragm in the cap of the electrolarynx that makes contact with a patient's throat to produce vibrations similar to those produced by the larynx. To avoid “gravitational wear” of the coil wires against a magnetic cup used to center the coil wires, the walls of the cup are made thinner and the magnetic cup may be replaced with a non-magnetic cup or the magnetic cup is removed altogether.
