  • Publication number: 20100133945
Abstract: A winding apparatus for a segmented core having a plurality of stator teeth includes a mounting fixture configured to support select ones of the plurality of stator teeth. The mounting fixture is configured to rotate about an axis defined by each of the plurality of stator teeth. The winding apparatus also includes a plurality of stator tooth holding elements operatively connected to the mounting fixture. Each of the plurality of stator tooth holding elements are configured to retain a select one of the plurality of a stator teeth relative to the mounting fixture. The mounting fixture is selectively rotated about the axis of at least one of the plurality of teeth to apply wraps of wire to the one of the plurality of stator teeth while at the same time rotating others of the plurality of stator teeth that have already been wrapped with wire.

  • Patent number: 7712697
Abstract: An apparatus for winding wire about a tooth of a core includes an amount of wire, a winding member configured to receive a portion of the amount of wire, and a winding device operatively coupled to the winding member. The winding device being configured to apply a number of wraps of the amount of wire to at least one of a plurality of teeth of the core. The number of wraps including a number of twists that is fewer than the number of wraps.

  • Patent number: 7694909
Abstract: A method of winding a flexible core includes forming a flexible core member having a first end portion, a second end portion and a plurality of teeth each having a central axis with the plurality of teeth being arranged in a substantially linear array. The method also includes manipulating the flexible core member into an inverted core form having an outer portion and an inner portion with the plurality of teeth extending out from the outer portion away from the inner portion, positioning a winding member including an amount of wire adjacent one of the plurality of teeth, and rotating the flexible core member about the central axis of the one of the plurality of teeth. The method further includes applying wraps of the wire to the one of the plurality of teeth.
