  • Publication number: 20240140342
Abstract: A system and method include a radar sensor disposed in a vehicle for detecting an operator motion or gesture that indicates a desire to perform a function of the vehicle, and a controller in communication with the radar sensor to interpret sensor data and determine if the operator performed a predetermined motion or gesture that indicates the desire to perform the function of the vehicle based on the predetermined motion or gesture.

  • Patent number: 11898396
Abstract: A system and method include a sensor disposed adjacent a power actuated movable panel of a vehicle for detecting an approach of an operator to the power actuated movable panel and measuring at least one operator characteristic of the operator in proximity to the sensor. The system and method also include a controller in communication with the sensor to interpret sensor data of the operator from the sensor to determine the at least one operator characteristic to adjust a position of the power actuated movable panel based on the at least one operator characteristic.

  • Patent number: 11634937
Abstract: A bus includes a vehicle body, a plurality of doors, a nosing seal, at least one sensor disposed inside the nosing seal, wherein the at least one sensor capacitively couples to an electrically conductive moving object proximal to the nosing seal such that the capacitance of the at least one sensor changes, and a controller coupled to the at least one sensor, the controller analyzing the sensing by the at least one sensor and senses a non-smooth signal from the at least one sensor and determines that an obstruction is present, senses signal fluctuation from the at least one sensor is not monotonic and determines that an obstruction is present, senses that the one of the doors has not closed after a predetermined time period and determines that the obstruction is present, senses that one of the doors has stalled and determines that the obstruction is present, the controller being configured to alert an operator of the bus when the obstruction is present.

  • Publication number: 20230111256
Abstract: A system and method for controlling motorized vents of an HVAC system of a vehicle including at least one motor to move air louvers of an HVAC vent of the HVAC system, a position and motion control for controlling movement of the at least one motor, and one or more sensors to detect hot/cold areas and send information on the detected hot/cold areas to the position and motion control, wherein the position and motion control automatically determines a targeted positioning of airflow based on hot/cold areas.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 11, 2022
    Publication date: April 13, 2023
Inventors: Bradley D. Looy, Richard L. Felicioni, David W. Shank
  • Publication number: 20230110134
Abstract: A system and method for controlling motorized vents of an HVAC system of a vehicle including at least one motor to move air louvers of an HVAC vent of the HVAC system, at least one thermal sensor to sense hot/cold areas inside the vehicle, and a position and motion control to control movement of the at least one motor, wherein position and motion control determines a targeted positioning of airflow based on hot/cold areas sensed by the thermal sensor.

  • Patent number: 6885307
Abstract: An apparatus and method for monitoring at least one battery. A reference ramp voltage signal is applied to a battery. A difference between a measurement ramp voltage signal output from the battery and the reference signal is compared with a threshold to determine battery condition. The determined battery condition can be transmitted remotely from the battery location.
