Abstract: Provided are systems and methods including, under control of control circuitry implementing a hydration and homogenization protocol, hydrating lyophilized reagents and homogenizing the hydrated reagents. Lyophilized reagent nozzle sippers, including distal tips, extend into lyophilized reagent wells such that the distal tips do not contact the associated lyophilized reagent, designated amounts of hydration fluid are automatically aspirated from the corresponding hydration reservoir by corresponding sippers and discharged into the lyophilized reagent well based on the hydration and homogenization protocol implemented by the control circuitry. The method may also include extending the lyophilized reagent nozzle sippers into lyophilized reagent wells such that the distal tips contact the hydrated reagent, and automatically aspirating and discharging the hydrated reagent based on the hydration and homogenization protocol implemented by the control circuitry.
