  • Patent number: 8760875
Abstract: A telecommunication panel may comprise a chassis configured to receive insertable Digital Signal Cross-connect (DSX) modules and a backplane connected to the chassis. The DSX module is compact to fit into the telecommunication panel. A ratio of the number of the insertable 6-port DSX modules over the backplane surface area at least about 0.37 modules per square inch is achieved. The DSX module may include a printed circuit board and a light emitting diode (LED) light pipe on the printed circuit board to minimize the width of the DSX module. The DSX module may be inserted into the telecommunication panel horizontally or vertically so that the telecommunication panel receives a maximum number of DSX modules.

  • Patent number: 8267726
Abstract: A modular telecommunications device that may be configured with a variety of connector types that enable any telecommunications equipment to route signals through the telecommunications device. The device includes a quad jack frame, a main printed circuit board and an interchangeable back plate that can be replaced by another interchangeable back plate that includes a different connector type. A secondary printed circuit board is included in the interchangeable back plate. The incoming power to the device is provided to the main printed circuit that distributes power throughout the device.

  • Publication number: 20060040563
Abstract: A DSX jack assembly removal system, including an apparatus and a method, which includes a jack mount structure with a front end, a rear end, an upper support and a lower support and a jack aperture, a jack adapted to be slidably mounted in the jack aperture defined between the top and bottom supports of the jack mount structure, the jack including a jack body which defines a plurality of plug apertures sized to receive plugs having tip and ring contacts, and a tool aperture in one of the jack mount structure and the jack body, the tool aperture being configured to allow a jack removal tool to be inserted between the jack mount structure and the jack, such that the jack removal tool may utilize the jack mount structure as a fulcrum in removing the jack from the jack mount structure. The tool may be a bantam jack plug, a screw driver or many other prods.

  • Patent number: 6729910
Abstract: A DSX jack LED activation system including a resilient dielectric structure secured within the jack body and positioned between the at least one electrical lead of the LED and one of the at least one ring spring contact and the at least one tip spring contact, an LED contact terminal secured within the jack body between the at least one electrical lead of the LED and the resilient dielectric structure, and such that when the jack plug is inserted into the plug aperture, the jack plug deflects one of the at least one ring spring contact and the at least one tip spring contact, into the resilient dielectric structure, which deflects the LED contact terminal into the at least one electrical lead of the LED.

  • Publication number: 20020182932
Abstract: A DSX jack assembly with the monitor input aperture and the monitor output aperture on a first jack being adjacent one another and staggered from the monitor input aperture and the monitor output aperture on the adjacent jack, and wherein the distance the monitor ports are staggered on adjacent jacks is less than the distance that the input and output apertures are staggered on adjacent jacks. This provides more room for wire management and the system configuration. This invention also provides a contact stop configuration which: prevents normal contacts from traveling far with spring contacts, thus providing a wiping action; and against which spring contacts may be biased to allow more relaxed tolerances in the manufacture and location of the terminals or contacts, as well as the plug apertures, to consistently achieve the same electrical contact when inserting and removing plugs from the corresponding apertures.
