  • Publication number: 20180313061
Abstract: A control system for a machine includes multiple sensors coupled to multiple parts on the machine. The multiple sensors generate data indicative of motion of the multiple parts of the machine. The control system includes a controller in communication with the multiple sensors. The controller receives the data indicative of motion of the multiple parts of the machine from the multiple sensors. The controller determines a segment of the work cycle being currently performed by the machine based on the data received by the multiple sensors, and multiple membership functions. The controller generates productivity data of the machine based on the determined segment of the work cycle. Furthermore, the controller displays the productivity data of the machine on a display system.

  • Patent number: 10041229
Abstract: A system for controlling an operation of a machine is disclosed. The system includes an image capturing device and a controller. The image capturing device generates a signal indicative of a surrounding area of the machine. The controller is in communication with the image capturing device. The controller determines a preceding work cycle of the machine comprising a dig segment and determines a preceding segment associated with the preceding work cycle to be a dump segment. The controller further identifies a work aggregate within the surrounding area of the machine, when the preceding segment of the preceding work cycle is the dump segment. Further, the controller determines a distance between an implement of the machine and the work aggregate and issues a shift request to downshift a gear drive of a transmission system of the machine, if the distance is less than a predefined distance.

  • Publication number: 20150004566
Abstract: A method for coaching an operator of a machine is disclosed. The method includes the controller collecting actual data related to an operation of the machine performed by the operator. The controller determines a type of operation being performed based on the actual data. The controller compares the actual data to expected data for the type of operation. The controller flags a coaching point based on the comparison of actual data to expected data, and the controller provides an image of the machine relating to the coaching point.

  • Publication number: 20150004574
Abstract: A system and method for coaching an operator of an industrial machine improves operator skill levels by providing prioritized coaching to the operator. The system and method identify operations performed during the work session and compare each operation to a model of the operation to identify operations that differ substantially from the model. Each such operation is logged as a coaching opportunity, and the method and system prioritize the associated coaching sequences for presentation to the operator, e.g., based on (1) classification of the operation associated with each coaching opportunity; (2) significance of the operation associated with each coaching opportunity; (3) operator history; (4) manager preferences; and (5) error severity.

  • Publication number: 20150004572
Abstract: A method for coaching an operator of an earthmoving machine is disclosed. The machine may have a controller in communication with a plurality of sensors configured to generate actual data indicative of real-time parameters associated with an operation of the machine. In this aspect, the method comprises the controller receiving actual data related to the operation of the machine performed by the operator. The controller determines a type of operation being performed based on the actual data. The controller compares the actual data to expected data for the type of operation being performed as preprogrammed in a memory associated with the controller. The controller provides notification of performance to the operator in real-time based on the comparison of the actual data to expected data.

  • Patent number: 8814038
Abstract: A system for providing information associated with an identification code to an operator of a machine is provided. The system includes a plurality of sensors configured to generate signals indicative of a parameter associated with an operation of the machine. The system also includes a display unit. The system further includes a controller communicably coupled to the plurality of sensors and the display unit. The controller is configured to receive the signals indicative of the parameter associated with the operation of the machine. The controller then determines an operation mode of the machine based on the received signals and identifies the identification code based on the determined operation mode. The controller further displays the identification code based on the determined operation mode on the display unit.

  • Patent number: 8660738
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for evaluating performances of a piece of equipment and equipment operator. One disclosed method includes sensing a plurality of operating parameters of the equipment. The method then includes resolving a plurality of segments the equipment is sequentially performing from the sensed operating parameters to provide a sequence of resolved segments. The method then includes resolving what application the equipment is performing based upon the sequence of resolved segments to provide at least one resolved application. The method then includes applying at least one metric to the resolved application to provide at least one applied application metric. Then, the method includes evaluating the performance of the equipment and operator using the applied application metric. Various systems for installation on existing work equipments or new work equipments such as loaders and excavators are also disclosed.
