Abstract: The invention relates to Radio Frequency (RF) antennas suitable for receiving and/or transmitting digital signals in the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) and/or Very High Frequency (VHF) ranges. The invention comprises a modular driven DUV antenna comprising a driven DUV element, an RF signal line RF communicatively connected to the driven DUV element, and an antenna mount supporting the DUV element; and a modular RF signal enhancer, supported by the antenna mount and selected from: an RF amplifier and a passive RF enhancer positioned to enhance the RF performance of the DUV antenna and comprising one of: an RF director, an RF reflector, and an RF booster.

Abstract: The invention comprises a Digital UHF/VHF (DUV) Antenna with a driven DUV antenna preferably boosted by an amplifier mounted close to the DUV dipole and a DUV signal line with antenna, amplifier, and signal line contacts being conductively bonded. The DUV dipole is preferably enhanced by a VHF enhancer and/or by a UHF enhancer comprising one of a reflective and a directive element. The UHF/VHF enhancer preferably includes an RF booster with a reflective element displaced from the longitudinal axis and near the driven antenna to enhance VHF signals. The DUV antenna is preferably configured for DTV reception in the VHF high band range of 174 MHz to 216 MHz, and in the UHF range of 470 MHz to 698 MHz.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing and using a portable electronic data storage and information retrieval system for healthcare and/or other types of applications are described. Each portable storage device (PSD) (e.g., smart card) for a group, e.g., household, allows the storage and retrieval of household level information in addition to individual household member data/information. Data/information is stored corresponding to different applications. The PSD is accessed by a service provider's computer system. Access to the data/information is secured via authentication and/or various encryption techniques. Various service providers or types of service providers have access to different portions of the information stored on the portable storage device based upon pre-arranged agreements and/or service needs. Access is controlled through security information and/or security modules which are used to limit access.

Abstract: A system to control the operation of a vehicular transmission embodying the concepts of the present invention utilizes a controller, at least one pulse width modulation solenoid valve and a torque transfer device operatively controlled by each of the solenoid valves so as to regulate a transmission system. The controller operatively imposes not only a varying modulation frequency on each of the solenoid valves, but also a varying modulation duty cycle on each of the solenoid valves. The controller also operatively varies the modulation rate of said frequency and said duty cycle of the fluid pressure operating the plurality of torque transfer devices, thus controlling the operation of each solenoid valve such that it does not impose a torque spike on the operation of the transmission as each solenoid valve applies fluid pressure to the appropriate torque transfer device. Accordingly, the controller provides smooth and quiet operation of the transmission.
