  • Patent number: 8459237
Abstract: A fill head assembly for a fuel storage system includes a check valve disposed within a central region of the fill head assembly. The check valve includes a membrane covering a vent outlet of the fill head assembly. The check valve prevents liquid flow from the central region into the vent outlet, while simultaneously allowing vapor flow from the central region into the vent outlet. The membrane includes a micro-porous material that is liquid impermeable, thereby preventing liquid flow through the membrane, and is vapor permeable, thereby allowing vapor flow through the membrane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 21, 2011
Date of Patent: June 11, 2013
    Assignee: Eaton Corporation

  • Patent number: 6901964
Abstract: A fuel pressure pulse damper includes metallic damper body defining a chamber in which a flexible diaphragm is received in a manner to dampen fuel pressure pulses between a fuel pump and fuel injectors of a vehicle fuel system. The damper body includes a barbed fitting to receive fuel form the fuel pump and quick connect fitting for connection to a fuel rail for supplying pressurized fuel to fuel injectors of the vehicle engine.

  • Patent number: 6588449
Abstract: Fuel shut-off device for use in a diesel fuel tank to discontinue fuel flow to a fuel pump comprises a valve seat forming a fuel flow opening for fuel to flow from the fuel tank to the fuel pump, a fuel control valve cooperably disposed relative to the valve seat to control fuel flow from the fuel tank to the fuel pump, and a spring biasing the fuel inlet valve to a closed position against the valve seat. A diaphragm is provided having a first valve-actuating side for moving the fuel inlet valve relative to the valve seat against bias of the spring and a second side. The second side is communicated to a control chamber having an inlet orifice that is communicated to the fuel tank and an outlet orifice that is communicated to said fuel pump.

  • Patent number: 6257287
Abstract: A motor vehicle fuel fill pipe shut-off device includes a fuel shut-off valve normally closed relative to a valve seat and disposed in a path of fuel flow through the fuel fill pipe of the motor vehicle to a fuel tank thereof.

  • Patent number: 6234195
Abstract: A one-piece check valve is provided for a fuel filler pipe connected to a vehicle fuel tank to provide a fuel filling passage communicated to the fuel tank. The check valve comprises a thin sheet of material shaped to comprise a mounting portion, a flapper valve and an intermediate connecting portion that connects the flapper valve and the mounting portion with the connecting portion being contoured so as to normally impart a spring bias to the flapper valve to close off the fuel filling passage. An elastomeric seal is fastened on the flapper valve or on the fill pipe in a manner to provide a liquid fuel and vapor tight seal when the flapper valve is in a closed position relative to the fuel filling passage. The flapper valve is opened when fuel is introduced into the fuel filler pipe to permit fueling of said tank.
