  • Publication number: 20070039664
Abstract: An apparatus and method for a single operator to load and control the automatic infeeding of workpieces to a saw including the loading of a first workpiece from a nearby supply and placing it onto a moveable structure that that is raised to form a ramp and lowered to release the workpiece. The workpiece moves down the ramp and stops against a stop member located on the top surface of the moveable structure positioned above a first conveyor. The operator controls the lowering of the ramp structure thereupon releasing the workpiece to the first conveyor moving the workpiece transversely past a scanner, which discerns dimensional characteristics of the workpiece. A second conveyor feeds the workpiece into the saw.

  • Publication number: 20070028729
Abstract: An apparatus and method for automatically adjusting the orientation of a workpiece before feeding the workpiece to a saw. The apparatus includes a first conveying means for moving a workpiece transversely while measuring the profile every foot for the length. Stopping the workpiece to automatically adjust the workpiece by vertically lifting one end and horizontally moving the other end.

  • Publication number: 20050003939
Abstract: A heat transfer roll for producing sheet material, particularly material having a cross-section whose thickness varies across the width of a sheet being formed, includes a journal on which the roll is rotatably supported, and at least two cooling channels at the surface of the roll that can be supplied with various fluids at various flow rates and temperatures. Fluid in the first and second channels flows at predetermined longitudinal positions at the roll surface. The first channel includes cylindrical spiral portions and the second channel includes a circular cylindrical channel located between the spiral portions. A diverter provides hydraulic flow continuity across the second flow channel to first and second portions of the first flow channel. Risers carry fluid radially outward to the flow channels at the outer surface of the roll.
