  • Patent number: 6968292
Abstract: Industrial equipment is monitored by at least one industrial controller assigned to each group of industrial equipment. Queues are established by logic within one of the industrial controllers for each group. Each queue holds a number of event records. Logic is established in each industrial controller for storing an indication of a detected event associated with a time stamp as an event record in a queue. A group computer is interconnected with each industrial controller in the group. A scan rate is established for each queue in that group. Event records are read from each queue based on the scan rate for that queue. The event records for all queues in a group are accumulated by the group computer and forwarded to a server. The group computer may dynamically set the scan rate and/or the queue length for each queue based on records read from the queue.

  • Patent number: 5963003
Abstract: A motion controller includes an input for receiving data corresponding to moves in a cycle of a multi-axis machine. The controller controls electric motors of the machine in accordance with positions set forth in a path planning table. The path planning table is generated from the data by applying a curve defining equation and integrating an alpha variable therein. The alpha variable corresponds to a velocity to acceleration ratio and is adjustable to allow the calculation of a new path planning table having a velocity and acceleration profile shifted from an initial velocity and acceleration profile to allow for optimization of motor performance. A method of path planning having user tunable parameters is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5923132
Abstract: A motion controller generates commands to control electric motors of a multi-axis industrial machine in accordance with calculated positions set forth in a path planning table. In a method of generating the path planning table, a series of coordinates are entered into a system that correspond to positions of the machine along a complete cycle of a desired path. The coordinates are proportionally spaced based on distance, maximum speed and maximum acceleration factors. A path planning table is generated by determining the calculated positions based on a predetermined resolution using an S-curve mathematical equation that includes an alpha variable corresponding to an acceleration to jerk ratio. The value of the alpha variable is adjustable by the user during a testing procedure to allow for an optimal setting thereof.
