  • Publication number: 20060048351
Abstract: A preferred embodiment connector includes a catch, a housing, and a locking member. The catch has an end with an engaging member, and the housing has a cavity and a supporting member. The locking member is positioned within the cavity and has a first position and a second position. The cavity and the locking member have a first configuration when the locking member is in the first position, and the cavity and the locking member have a second configuration when the locking member is in the second position. The first configuration is configured and arranged to receive the end of the catch. The second configuration is configured and arranged to engage the end of the catch between the supporting member and the locking member thereby locking the catch, and the supporting member of the housing provides a surface upon which the engaging member exerts force should a fall occur.

  • Publication number: 20060048723
Abstract: A shock absorbing device includes first and second straps, first and second connectors, and shoulder straps of a safety harness. The first strap has first and second connecting ends and an intermediate portion between the connecting ends. The second strap has first and second segments at one end and an interconnected portion extending toward an opposite end. The first segment is operatively connected to the first connecting end, and the second segment is operatively connected to the second connecting end. The first connector is operatively connected to the shoulder straps and to the first connecting end thereby interconnecting the safety harness and the first strap. The second connector is operatively connected to the second connecting end. The connectors are proximate the one end and the intermediate portion and the interconnected portion extend in a downward direction from the connectors.

  • Publication number: 20050217937
Abstract: A preferred embodiment lanyard for interconnecting a safety harness worn by a user and an anchorage point includes a line and a retracting device. The line has a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion. The first end is releasably connectable to the safety harness, and the second end is releasably connectable to the anchorage point. The retracting device includes a housing, a drum, and a biasing member. The biasing member interconnects the housing and the drum, and the drum is continually biased by the biasing member. The drum is rotatable relative to the housing. The intermediate portion is wound about the drum from two sides of the drum, wherein the intermediate portion is paid out and retracted from the two sides of the drum. The retracting device is non-load bearing should a fall occur.

  • Patent number: 5694668
Abstract: A double locking snap hook is provided with an extended hook shank and return portion to form a lengthened hook portion for use in conjunction with the assembly and disassembly of wall forms. A slot is provided in the hook shank through which may be inserted a strap made of webbing, leather or another sturdy, flexible material. This strap may in turn be connected to a worker's safety belt or harness, permitting the worker the use of both hands while securely attached to the wall form. In addition to other modifications, the return portion is narrowed somewhat to permit passage through the slots of the wall form bracing.

  • Patent number: 5687535
Abstract: A detachable roof anchor having a fixed, permanent portion and a removable, reusable portion. The permanent portion includes a roof anchor base plate, two carriage bolts and a truss clamp having serrated edges that engage the bottom side of the roof rafter. Releasably attachable to the permanent portion is a pivoting D-ring attachment member held in place by a clamp plate bolted to the roof anchor base plate. The attachment member, while providing safe and secure attachment of fall protection devices, also permits a wide range of motion without compromising the safety of the worker on the roof.
