  • Publication number: 20230392051
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an adhesive assemblies such as an adhesive assembly for mounting an object to a surface, the assembly comprising: a first adhesive construction including a first major surface and a second major surface, the first adhesive construction including a first adhesive layer, a first core adjacent to the first adhesive layer, the core comprising core material and including first and second major surfaces; and a first arranged pattern of recesses on at least the first major surface of the first core, each recess terminating in a membrane, wherein the membrane is defined by a bottom surface of the recess and comprises core material; and a first adhesive interface at the bottom surface or within the membrane; and a stiffening carrier laminated to the second major surface of the first adhesive construction, the stiffening carrier having a higher stiffness than the first adhesive construction.

  • Publication number: 20220372334
Abstract: Pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions that contain polymer microspheres with an average particle size of 20 ?m to 100 ?m, the polymer microspheres synthesized using the disclosed suspension polymerization techniques and include at least three structural isomers of a secondary (meth)acrylate of Formula (I), where R1 and R2 are each independently H or a C1 to C10 saturated linear alkyl group, the sum of the number of carbons in R1 and R2 is 7 to 18, inclusive, and R3 is H or CH3. The disclosed pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions may be used in masking articles to provide holding power to, clean paint-lines on, low surface energy adhesion to, and excellent damage-free removal from painted surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20210317341
Abstract: A pressure sensitive adhesive composition is described comprising a first block copolymer comprising polyvinyl aromatic end block and poly(vinyl aromatic/butadiene) copolymer block; at least 20 wt. % of a second polystyrene-polyisoprene-poly styrene block copolymer; and solid tackifying resin. The total amount of block copolymer typically ranges from 40-65 wt. % and plasticizing oil and liquid tackifying resin are present in a total amount of less than 20 wt.-% based on the total weight of organic components of the pressure sensitive adhesive composition. Also describe are adhesive articles and methods.

  • Publication number: 20210309893
Abstract: An adhesive composition is described comprising a block copolymer comprising a polyvinyl aromatic block and a poly(vinyl aromatic/isoprene) copolymer block; and a tackifier. The block copolymer typically has the general structure: A?A/B or A?AB?B; wherein A is a polyvinyl aromatic block; B is a polyisoprene block; and A/B is a poly(vinyl aromatic/isoprene) copolymer block. Also described are adhesive articles, methods of bonding, and block copolymer blends.

  • Publication number: 20190062602
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to adhesive compositions, adhesive articles including the adhesive compositions, methods of making the adhesive compositions and articles, and methods of using the adhesive compositions and articles. The adhesive compositions of the present disclosure include a thermoplastic phenolic resin made from the reaction of (1) alkyl phenol (e.g., butyl- or octyl- or -nonyl) and formaldehyde; or (2) alkyl phenol (e.g., butyl- or octyl-) and acetaldehyde; or (3) alkyl phenol (e.g., butyl- or octyl-) and acetylene. The present disclosure also generally relates to adhesive articles including these adhesive compositions. The inventors of the present disclosure found that such adhesive articles exhibit excellent adhesion to architectural coatings with including low or no VOCs, deep base formulations, and/or formulations including primer in various conditions, including, for example, high humidity.
