  • Publication number: 20120114265
Abstract: Systems and methods for image contrast enhancement are disclosed. A tone reproduction curve function is generated for a plurality of pixel values, each including a brightness value, based on a contrast adjustment value, the brightness value of each of the pixels and a power-law function, the tone reproduction curve taking the form of an S-shaped curve. The S-shaped curve includes a bulging curve portion corresponding to an area wherein a brightness of pixels having values representative of relative brightness is increased, a sagging curve portion corresponding to an area wherein a brightness of pixels having values representative of relative darkness is decreased, and an inflection point serving as a demarcation between the bulging area and the sagging area of the tone reproduction curve. The exponent of the power-law function is generated as a quadratic polynomial function f(x) in a range 0?f(x)?1, wherein x is defined as a curvature factor.

  • Patent number: 7978368
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for visualization of black-component gamut sculpting. Parameter data is first received corresponding to parameters associated with the black replacement for a primary color system. Alternative color profiles are then generated according to the parameter data and characteristics of the primary color system. Image data is then received of an image defined in the primary color system. Renderings are then generated corresponding to the received image data, with each rendering uniquely corresponding to one of the alternative color profiles. Selection data is then received corresponding to a selected black replacement parameter selected in accordance with the generation of the renderings.

  • Patent number: 6916078
Abstract: One general aspect of the invention provides for creating half-tone ink-jet proofs on print-enhanced sheets based on an effective image cell pitch that substantially matches a cell pitch used to create press plates. Print process variables can be adjusted for the ink-jet proofing printer based on received color matching information. These adjustments can define preprint ink mixing ratios that allow at least some image cells to be printed with ink mixtures. Or they can define sub-area printing values that allow at least some dots to be printed with areas of different inks.

    Assignee: Creo Americas, Inc.
Inventors: Adam I. Pinard, James M. Enge, Bradley S. Winslow, Andrew Masia, Foster M. Fargo, Jr.
