  • Patent number: 9714574
Abstract: A rotatory internal combustion engine includes a power module, a housing configured to retain the power module and including an intake and an exhaust, and a first sleeve including a sleeve intake, a sleeve exhaust, and an injector port. The first sleeve is removably coupleable within the housing to form an intake flow path between the housing intake and the sleeve intake, and an exhaust flow path between the housing exhaust and the sleeve exhaust. The first sleeve is interchangeable with a second sleeve that has at least one of a sleeve intake, a sleeve exhaust, and an injector port different than the corresponding sleeve intake, sleeve exhaust, and injector port of the first sleeve, and that is configured to modify at least one of a torque output of the engine, a power output of the engine, and a fuel timing of the engine, compared to the first sleeve.

  • Patent number: 9347369
Abstract: A housing for an engine is provided. The housing includes an intake manifold configured to supply air to at least one chamber defined within the housing, a fuel port configured to supply fuel to the at least one chamber, and a compression control port configured to control at least one of a pressure and a volume of a fuel-air mixture in the at least one chamber during a compression cycle of the engine. The compression control port includes a passage defined through the housing, and at least one valve disposed in the passage and configured to control a flow through the passage.

  • Publication number: 20160061038
Abstract: A rotary device is provided. The rotary device includes a housing having a cylindrical inner surface and a rotor assembly mounted for rotation in the housing. The rotor assembly includes a rotor, at least one rocker pivotally coupled to the rotor, and a counterbalanced seal assembly. The rotor includes a central portion and a plurality of arms extending radially outward from the central portion. Each arm has a distal end disposed for sliding engagement with the inner surface. Pivoting of the rocker causes the rotor to rotate. The counterbalanced seal assembly is disposed at the distal end of at least of one of the arms, and includes a seal and a counterweight mechanism. The counterweight mechanism is configured to control a contact pressure exerted by the seal on the inner surface resulting from rotation of the rotor.

  • Publication number: 20160061039
Abstract: A rotary device is provided. The rotary device includes a housing having an inner surface and a rotor assembly mounted for rotation in the housing about an axis defining an axial direction of the rotary device. The rotor assembly includes a rotor and a seal assembly. The rotor includes a central portion and a plurality of arms extending radially outward from the central portion. Each arm has a distal end disposed for sliding engagement with the inner surface, and at least one of the arms has a channel defined therein. The seal assembly is disposed within the channel, and includes a seal, a base defining a seal channel configured to receive the seal, and a counterweight mechanism pivotally coupled to the base. The counterweight mechanism is configured to control a contact pressure exerted by the seal on the inner surface resulting from rotation of the rotor.
