Patent number: 11934165Abstract: Described herein are systems, methods, devices, and other techniques for implementing smart windows, smart home systems that include smart windows, and user devices and applications for control thereof. A smart window, or photovoltaic window, may include a photovoltaic configured to generate electrical power from incident light onto the photovoltaic window, store the electrical power, and send the electrical power to an electronics package or various electrical loads including a wireless communication system, sensors, or window functions. The photovoltaic window may communicate with various smart home system devices such as hub devices and user devices, which may include the reception of control data at the photovoltaic window and the transmission of sensor data captured by the window sensors.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2021Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Ubiquitous Energy, Inc.Inventors: Miles C. Publication number: 20070248440Abstract: To help hold a trailer bed of a truck steady at a loading dock as the truck is being loaded or unloaded of its cargo, a yieldable vehicle brace exerts a substantial, but limited, reactive force upward against the trailer's rear impact guard to resist the trailer's downward movement. In some embodiments, the brace holds the trailer bed stationary up to a certain load limit and provides the trailer bed with a controlled or dampened descent when the load exceeds that limit. In some cases, the reactive upward force exerted by the brace increases with the downward velocity of the trailer bed. The reactive force can be created by one or more pressure relief valves, hydraulic fluid passing through a flow restriction, a brake, a spring, or various combinations thereof. Some embodiments of the brace include provisions for accommodating horizontal movement of the rear impact guard.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2007Publication date: October 25, 2007Applicant: Rite-Hite Holding CorporationInventors: Jonathan Andersen, Dave Holm, Timothy Muhl, Bradley Stone, Matt Sveum

Publication number: 20060213508Abstract: An environmental chamber includes an ultrasonic nebulizer assembly for controlling the relative humidity within the chamber. The ultrasonic nebulizer assembly is connected in closed-loop fluid communication with an enclosed chamber of the environmental chamber and includes an ultrasonic nebulizer module to generate water vapor that is introduced into the enclosed chamber. The ultrasonic nebulizer module is constructed to be immersed in water within the ultrasonic nebulizer assembly and is readily replaceable by the user. A nebulizer hour timer is provided to monitor the length of time of the ultrasonic nebulizer is operating to provide a precise indication to the user of how much life is left in the ultrasonic nebulizer before it needs to be replaced.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2005Publication date: September 28, 2006Applicant: Barnstead/Thermolyne CorporationInventors: Michael Murray, Bradley Stone

Publication number: 20060215487Abstract: A platform shaker for use in a CO2 rich environment that has a corrosion resistant output shaft and a corrosion resistant, sealed motor casing. An eccentric drive assembly is connected between the output shaft and a platform and has components treated with a corrosion inhibiting coating. A shaker control controls the electric motor has components treated with a conformal coating.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2005Publication date: September 28, 2006Inventors: Lawrence Stalec, Bradley Stone

Patent number: 6823382Abstract: A web site provides services to uses over the Internet. End-user service-level objectives (SLOs) such as availability and performance are measured and reported to a SLO agent. User requests pass through several tiers at the web site, such as a firewall tier, a web-server tier, an application-server tier, and a database-server tier. Each tier has several redundant service components that can process requests for that tier. Local agents, operating with any local resource managers, monitor running service components and report to a service agent. Node monitors also monitor network-node status and report to the service agent. When a node or service component fails, the service agent attempts to restart it using the local agent, or replicates the service component to other nodes. When the SLO agent determines that a SLO is not being met, it instructs the service agent to replicate more of the constraining service components or increase resources.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2001Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: Altaworks CorporationInventor: Bradley A. Publication number: 20030050676Abstract: In general, the invention is directed to techniques for using a magnet to suspend a function of an implanted device, and to verify that the function has been suspended. A suspension device emits a magnetic field to suspend a function of a device implanted in a body, receives a signal that the function has been suspended, and outputs an indicator that the function has been suspended. In this manner, an operator can proceed having confidence that the suspension of the function was completed, and did not fail due to inappropriate placement of the magnet, slippage, or any other of a number of reasons.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2001Publication date: March 13, 2003Inventors: Mark Hubelbank, Enrique Malaret, Bruce D. Gunderson, Walter H. Olson, James H. Ericksen, Kevin T. Ousdigian, Bradley A. Stone, Vincent W. Kapral

Patent number: 6421737Abstract: Selected resources of a computing system are monitored. A user interacting with a resource management client discovers the resources currently available to be monitored and then selects which resources of the computing system are to be monitored. Also, the user selects monitor parameters for each resource. Then, for each resource selected, the resource management client forwards to a resource monitoring manager a monitor request to monitor the resource. The resource monitoring manager reformats the monitor request to form a reformatted monitor request. The resource monitoring manager forwards the reformatted monitoring request to one of a plurality of resource monitor modules. The resource monitor module which receives the reformatted monitoring request monitors the resource.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1997Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Assignee: Hewlett-Packard CompanyInventors: Bradley A.
