  • Patent number: 5590159
Abstract: To recognize a specific pattern of bits anywhere within a high-speed bit stream of data, the serially-received bytes of the bit stream are first converted to parallel or simultaneously-presented, eight-bit bytes. Received bytes are used as the addresses of two SRAMs. A byte of the desired pattern is recognized by having that byte address a memory location of one of the SRAMs in which a binary "1" has been stored at the bit location within that memory location that corresponds to the received byte's position within the expected bit pattern. The other seven bit locations within that memory byte have binary "0s" stored in them. The outputs from the two SRAMs are gated to look for a sequence of two successive bytes of the expected pattern. A binary "1," signifying recognition of receipt of two successive bytes, is clocked into one of a plurality of shift registers. The length of each shift register represents the opposite of the position, within the expected sequence pattern, of the two successive bytes.

  • Patent number: 5163373
Abstract: A leg constuction (18) for supporting the weight of an upper member (12) in an article of furniture (10) comprises an elongated metal support member (20) adapted to be secured to the upper member and of sufficient length to support the upper member above the floor. The metal support member has at least one elongated retaining tongue (30, 32) extending along at least a portion of the length of the metal support member. An elongated wooden cover member (72) is mounted on the metal support member, the elongated cover member having a length substantially coextensive with the metal support member for covering the metal support member. In addition, the cover member has at least one elongated retaining groove (86, 88) for slidably receiving the elongated retaining tongue of the metal support member, thereby slidably retaining the cover member on the metal support member. The cover member substantially conceals the metal support member from view from at least one side of the furniture article.

  • Patent number: 4807838
Abstract: A hollow table leg assembly for supporting a tabletop having a vertical passage extending therethrough. The assembly includes a top plate which is fastened to the underside of the tabletop at the vertical passage. A downwardly-extending, circular protuberance is formed in the top plate and defines a recess beneath the vertical passage in the tabletop. A downwardly-facing annular lip is formed on the protuberance below the recess. A plurality of wire passages are formed in the protuberance around a central passage. Three downwardly-projecting ribs are formed on the underside of the top plate and extend radially inwardly of the annular lip. A base member having legs and a centrally located, vertically-extending passage with an upwardly-facing, annular recessed shoulder is formed around the passage. A tab extends across the shoulder. A cylindrical tube extends between the top plate and the base member. The top end of the tube and the bottom end of the tube is seated on the recessed shoulder of the base member.
