  • Publication number: 20140282062
Abstract: Techniques are provided for customizing user settings for applications. Each user profile includes one or more packages that each includes user settings for one or more applications. Each package may be application specific, may be directed to common settings for an application suite, or may contain functional groups of user settings. For each application, a template may be stored that is associated with the application. The template identifies the application and indicates locations where the application stores the user settings. An agent may be associated with a trigger mechanism. The agent is configured to access the template of the application and to open a corresponding package at a central storage location if the trigger mechanism is triggered. The agent is configured to apply the user settings included in the package to the application at the locations indicated in the template.

  • Publication number: 20120167159
Abstract: When a request is received to execute a virtualized application, an application virtualization client component evaluates an execution policy to determine if the application may be executed. If the application virtualization client component determines based on the execution policy that the virtualized application may be executed, the application virtualization client component publishes the virtualized application. The application virtualization client component publishes the application by making the virtualized application available for execution if the application is installed, and installing the virtualized application if it is not installed. The application virtualization client component also evaluates the execution policy during execution of the virtualized application.

  • Patent number: 6144959
Abstract: A system and method for managing user accounts in a distributed network that provides authentication to a client user account is provided. The system authenticates a user to a directory services database having a set of credential information, and a number of workstation objects and creates a user account on the client according to configuration information associated with one of the workstation objects. Depending on the configuration information, the system will create the user account with the same set of credential information as a user account in the directory services database, or, create the user account with credentials having an alternate username and random password. The system is operable to store client workstation configuration information, and to associate other networking objects in the directory services database with the workstation object.

  • Patent number: 6108649
Abstract: A method and system for supplanting a first name base with a second name base. The system consolidates name bases from different network operating systems into a single name base administrable from a single administration utility. Existing first name base applications continue to execute without modification, as communications are transparently translated and redirected to the second name base, and responses translated and communicated back into a format associated with the first name base. The method and system simplify administration of the network, and consolidate multiple name bases into a single name base.
