  • Patent number: 8991929
Abstract: A stroller seat has a seat bottom with a calf support pivotally connected thereto and pivotable between a lowered position and a raised position. A positioning mechanism is coupled to the calf support and movable between an engaged arrangement and a released arrangement. The positioning mechanism, when in the engaged arrangement, retains the calf support in a position selectable from among at least the lowered position and raised position. A release actuator on the calf support is coupled to the positioning mechanism. The release actuator moves the positioning mechanism to the released arrangement. The positioning mechanism, whether in the engaged or released arrangement, allows the calf support to move in the direction of the raised position. The positioning mechanism, when in the engaged arrangement, prevents the calf support being moved in the direction of the lowered position. The positioning mechanism, when in the released arrangement, permits the calf support to move toward the lowered position.

  • Patent number: 8961057
Abstract: A fold joint for a stroller has a first latch part fixed to a first frame element and a second latch part fixed to a second frame element. The latch parts are pivotable relative to one another about a pivot axis between an in-use orientation and a folded orientation. A latch shuttle is movable between a latched position locking the latch parts in the in-use orientation and an unlatched position unlocking the latch parts. A latch pin is carried by the latch shuttle. A track on the first latch part has a fold portion and a latch portion. A slot on the second latch part aligns with the latch portion in the in-use orientation. The latch pin is captured within the track and slot. When the latch shuttle is moved to the unlatched position, the latch pin is moved along the latch portion to the fold portion of the track. When the latch parts are pivoted toward the folded orientation, the latch pin moves along the fold portion of the track.

  • Patent number: 8905428
Abstract: A stroller fold joint has first and second joint parts. The first part has a hosel coupled to a hub body with a circumferential surface and a pivot axis. The second part has a connector coupled to two plates. The hub body is between the plates and the two joint parts pivot about the pivot axis between a folded and an unfolded orientation. A tunnel through the hub body is perpendicular to the pivot axis. A shuttle slides within the tunnel and has latch end and an actuator end. The latch end is adjacent the hub body's circumferential surface at one tunnel end and the actuator end extends into the hosel. The shuttle is not exposed and is covered when the fold joint is in the folded or unfolded orientations and when moving therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20120242050
Abstract: A stroller wheel assembly has a wheel mount with an interior cavity and defining a generally vertical housing axis. An axle is carried by the wheel mount and a wheel is carried on the axle and rotatable about a rolling axis oriented perpendicular to the housing axis. A leg of a stroller frame has an end section coupled to the wheel mount. A suspension spring has one end borne against a spring stop on the wheel mount within the interior cavity and an opposite end borne against a fixed stop. The spring resiliently supports the wheel mount for movement against a bias force and by the bias force of the spring relative to the leg along the housing axis. The wheel assembly can also be capable of swiveling about the housing axis relative to the leg.

  • Publication number: 20120242062
Abstract: A stroller fold joint has a first part with a connection hosel coupled to a cylindrical hub body having a circumferential surface and a pivot axis extending through the body. A second part has connector coupled to two plates. The hub body is sandwiched between the plates and the first and second joint parts are pivotable about the pivot axis relative to one another between a folded orientation and an unfolded orientation. A tunnel extends through the hub body perpendicular to the pivot axis. A shuttle is slidable within the tunnel and has an elongate body, a latch end, and an actuator end. The latch end is adjacent the circumferential surface of the hub body at one tunnel end and the actuator end extends into the hosel. With the fold joint in the folded or the unfolded orientation, or moving therebetween, the shuttle is not exposed and covered by portions of the fold joint.

  • Patent number: 8123006
Abstract: A lightweight gas spring with a volume compensator, which is incorporated into a fork leg of a two-wheel vehicle fork. The fork leg includes a housing having an upper inner telescoping hollow rod with a closed top and bottom end which is partially inserted into a lower outer telescoping rod having a closed bottom end. The inner upper telescoping rod inside includes a stationary volume compensator, a reciprocating piston, a first expandable and contractible gas chamber between the volume compensator and the piston which functions as a positive gas spring, and a second expandable and contractible gas chamber between the piston and the bottom end which can function as a negative gas spring, an air bypass channel which is longitudinally positioned on the inner surface of the inner telescoping rod may open to the first and second gas chamber.

  • Patent number: 7891645
Abstract: An adjustable coil spring system placed within a leg of a vehicle such as a mountain bicycle fork. The spring system comprises an adjustable first soft spring seated on top of a second firm spring having greater length than the first soft spring. A coupler assembly is positioned between two springs comprised of a threaded bolt threadedly received within a coupler. A spring adjustment mechanism may comprise a knob connected to the threaded bolt through a non-round shaped shaft, wherein the threaded bolt is disposed within the first soft spring. As the knob rotates, the coupler is moved up along the threaded bolt, decreasing the length of the first soft spring, thereby increasing firm spring characteristics of the spring system. As the knob rotates in an opposite direction, the coupler moves down, increasing the length of the first soft spring, thereby increasing soft spring characteristics of the spring system.

  • Patent number: 7503576
Abstract: A molded assembly for a unique combination of a steering tube and crown for use in a two vehicle fork such as a bicycle fork, wherein the steering tube transversely connects to the crown at the crown's center position. The crown is further connected to the fork leg housings. The steering tube is comprised of a bottom neck portion and a main round body portion, wherein the bottom neck is varies in shape from a round to non-round exterior which is used to eliminate rotation when the tube is molded into the crown. The interior of the crown at the location where it is molded into the steering tube is also formed in a matching non-round shape. The steering tube is chemically made of uncured resin blended with carbon fiber composites, which can be cured under heat after the assembly is molded.
