  • Publication number: 20250121676
Abstract: A kinematic linkage assembly for a vehicle active grille shutter system. The kinematic linkage assembly includes a kinematic end cap with a driven gear and one or more driven gears connected to the driven gear. The driven gear includes a driven portion connected to an actuator. A gear portion of the driven gear circumscribes the driven portion. When a drive vane is engaged to the drive gear the gear portion and drive vane will rotate together. If the driven vane is missing the driven vane will rotate independently of the gear portion and none of the vanes of the assembly will be driven by the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20240351431
Abstract: An airflow metering device for metering airflow to a heat exchanger of a vehicle includes a first movable airflow fabric member and a second airflow fabric member. In a first closed position, the first movable airflow fabric member and second airflow fabric members meet at a central area of the airflow. The first movable airflow fabric member and second airflow fabric member are actuatable for withdrawing away from each other for providing an opening from the close position outward. This provides a central opening for metering airflow to the heat exchanger such as a radiator or the like. A continuous loop drive system is used for actuating both first and second airflow fabric members simultaneously.

Abstract: An air flow control panel for controlling the flow of air into a vehicle. The air flow control panel includes an air inlet for a vehicle providing an air flow path with two sheets of material moveable within the air flow path. When the first sheet and the second sheet are in the open position, the window portion of the first sheet and the window portion of the second sheet are aligned in the air inlet and allow air to flow through the air flow path of the air inlet. When the first sheet and the second sheet are in the closed position, the closed portion of the first sheet blocks the open window portion of the second sheet, and the closed portion of the second sheet blocks the open window portion of the first sheet to block the air inlet and air flow through the air flow path.

  • Patent number: 11624411
Abstract: A non-backdrivable clutched module for a bi-directional actuator such as actuators used for active aerodynamics on vehicles. The module has both a stopper mode and a clutch mode. During the stopper mode a back-driving force gets diverted away from the actuator using a locking bearing member. If the force is too great a clutch mode will disengage the back-driving force completely from the shaft connected to the actuator, thereby preventing damage to the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20230106937
Abstract: A method of in tool formation and assembly of an active grille shutter system, followed by an automated testing process. The method includes providing a tool having a plurality of sliders that assist in the formation and assembly of the active grille shutter system. The components of the active grille shutter system are individually formed in a single tool, with each of the components being spaced apart from each other. After formation of the components a number of sliders and an end of arm tool push the components together to form the assembled active grille shutter system. The end of arm tool then takes the assembled active grille shutter system to a testing station where the operation is checked.
