Each lighting unit has at least one light source (16a,b/18a,b) mounted on the housing, and the intensity of light emitted from the light source is adjustable. The lighting units also have a sensor (540a, b) that determines the orientation of the housing relative to a predetermined source Light source Light source Light source mined datum, such as gravity, in response to the rotation of the housing around the axis. The lighting units further have a controller (500a, b) connected to the sensor and the light source which automatically adjusts the intensity of light emitted from the light source based upon the determined orientation of the housing.
