  • Publication number: 20210010850
Abstract: The feed plate and beam stabilizer for a granular material weighing system are components used with granular material weighing systems, such as those used for filling cartridges with gunpowder. The feed plate is a circular plate disposed within a hopper of a granular material trickler. The circular plate is spaced apart from the bottom of the hopper by a plurality of substantially L-shaped members, which are used to impart movement to granular material contained in the granular material trickler when the circular plate is driven to rotate. The beam stabilizer includes a stabilizing wire connected to a lever arm for selectively contacting a beam of a beam balance of a granular material weighing system. The stabilizing wire makes contact with the beam to provide additional dampening to the beam to cease oscillation thereof following discharge of granular material into the weighing pan of the granular material weighing system.

  • Patent number: 7748155
Abstract: Systems and methods applying density altitude to ballistic trajectory compensation for small arms are provided. According to some embodiments, systems to solve ranging and ballistic compensation problems in firearms at various range-distances under varying atmospheric conditions are provided. Such systems can comprise a reticle housed within a firearm scope; and ballistic compensation information associated with at least one of the reticle and an aimpoint adjustment feature of the firearm. A user can utilize the ballistic compensation information to compensate for various density altitude levels to adjust the firearm scope. The ballistic compensation information can be indexed by density altitude level to enable adjustment of the firearm scope to adjust for varying atmospheric conditions and range distances. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 7325353
Abstract: The multiple nomograph system for solving ranging and ballistic problems in firearms includes a series of graphs or nomographs for the determination of a series of factors affecting the ballistic trajectory of a bullet in flight. The nomographs may be placed upon the reticle of a firearm scope, or provided on media external to the scope, as desired. The scope reticle includes at least one aiming point or aim point field to compensate for elevation and windage, with the vertical axis preferably being offset to compensate for precession at longer ranges. Stadia for determining angular target dimension(s) are included on the reticle, with a nomograph for determining apparent distance from the apparent dimensions being provided either on the reticle or external to the scope. Additional nomographs are provided for the determination and compensation of non-level slopes, non-standard density altitudes, and wind correction, either on the reticle or external thereto.

  • Patent number: 6121556
Abstract: A granular material weighing system intended primarily for weighing gunpowder, but which is not limited to this application. A volumetric powder measure is used to simultaneously dispense a previously weighed batch of granular material into its final container, usually a cartridge case, while also dispensing a volumetrically measured initial batch of material onto a scale. The initial batch is close to but below the desired final weight. A dribbler is used to feed additional granular material until the scale indicates that the desired weight is reached. The powder measure may be a rotary drum or translating bar type, the scale may be a beam balance including a magnetic damping device or an electronic scale, and the dribbler may be any electronic or mechanical dribbler.
