Publication number: 20090255127Abstract: A utility knife multi-tool carries a razor blade as a primary cutting blade. The tool has a handle and a blade. The blade has a flat body with an edge and a flat, each of which have grooves cut therein to provide file, rasp or saw functionality for the blade. The forward end of the blade is pointed and carries a razor blade. The multi-tool has a handle with a striking cap at an end thereof and can have a storage tray for holding at least one spare cutting blade and a folding blade with a blade lock mechanism in the handle to releasably lock the blade in operating position.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2009Publication date: October 15, 2009Inventors: Daniel R. Seymour, Brandon C. Hoover, James M. Burry

Patent number: 7578597Abstract: An outdoor lighting fixture that is capable of being mounted flush with a mounting surface is provided. In one embodiment, the outdoor lighting fixture contains a housing having an upper and lower portion. A light source is in operable communication with the housing and can provide light in a direction that is substantially parallel to the mounting surface. It has been discovered that the outdoor lighting fixture of the present invention can be mounted substantially flush with a mounting surface so that it remains relatively hidden from view during use. Furthermore, the outdoor lighting fixture can also provide light in a linear direction, thereby enabling it to illuminate paths, sidewalks, driveways and the like, without having to provide light in all directions.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2002Date of Patent: August 25, 2009Assignee: Hubbell IncorporatedInventors: Brandon C. Hoover, James E. Decker

Patent number: 7571517Abstract: The tool handle of the invention includes a shank connected via a ratcheting mechanism to a male square drive. A pair of handle wings are pivotally connected to the shank at a transverse pivot hinge such that the handle wings can be changed between a screwdriver-type configuration, an L-shape configuration, a T-shape configuration or other intermediate configurations. When the handle wings are in the fully open position, the handle wings bear against the shank to create a mechanism for transferring power between the handle wings and the tool shank without the need for a separate lock. A quick change adapter having a female drive can be connected to the male square drive such that the tool handle can be used with a wide variety of tools including taps and extractors, sockets, screwdriver bits and the like.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2005Date of Patent: August 11, 2009Assignee: Irwin Industrial Tool CompanyInventors: Robin Edward Smith, Brandon C. Patent number: 7360316Abstract: The level of the invention consists of a solid, thin central web that is connected to an upper box and a lower box. The central web supports level vials. The upper box and lower box have a hollow generally polygonal shape and define an upper surface and lower surface. A surface of either or both of the upper and lower boxes are calibrated with respect to the level vials to create leveling surfaces. The level vials are enclosed in housings that secure the level vials to the web. End caps are secured to the ends of the web and the upper and lower boxes.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2005Date of Patent: April 22, 2008Assignee: Irwin Industrial Tool CompanyInventors: Brandon C. Hoover, Daniel R. Seymour, Eric John Helda

Patent number: 7325682Abstract: The storage case of the invention consists of a base and a mating cover. The cover is constructed of a first cover portion that is pivotably attached to the base and a second cover portion that is slidably retained on the first cover portion. To release the cover from the base, the second cover portion is moved to an extended position where the second cover portion is disengaged from the base. A plurality of drill bit cassettes hold the individual bits and are removably retained in a corresponding number of cassette holders located within the base. The cassette holders are connected to one another and to the cover such that when the cover is opened, the cassette holders are extended out of the base where they can be easily accessed. When the cover is closed the cassette holders are retracted into the base.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2005Date of Patent: February 5, 2008Assignee: Irwin Industrial Tool CompanyInventors: Daniel R. Seymour, Brandon C. Hoover, Robert G. McRorie

Publication number: 20070297186Abstract: The clamp light comprises an elongated body formed of a rigid material. The elongated body supports a light source that is protected by a transparent cover. A fixed jaw is formed at one end of the elongated body and has a clamp pad formed thereon. A movable jaw having a clamp pad formed thereon is supported on the elongated body such that it can be moved along the body towards and away from the fixed jaw. The movable jaw includes ratchet teeth that engage mating ratchet teeth formed on the elongated body such that the movable jaw can be selectively locked in position relative to the body to fix the distance between the movable jaw and the fixed jaw. The clamp light can be mounted to a support structure by clamping the support structure between the clamp pads of the movable and fixed jaws.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2006Publication date: December 27, 2007Inventors: Brandon C. Hoover, Matthew Shute, Robin E. Smith
