  • Patent number: 12649885
Abstract: Apparatus and methods to eliminate PFAS from wastewater biosolids through fluidized bed gasification. The gasifier decomposes the PFAS in the biosolids at temperatures of 900-1800° F. Syngas exits the gasifier which is coupled to a thermal oxidizer and combusts at temperatures of 1600-2600° F. This decomposes PFAS in the syngas and creates flue gas. Heat is recovered from the flue gas by cooling the flue gas to temperatures of 400-1200° F. in a heat exchanger coupled with the thermal oxidizer. Various methods inject moisture into the gas stream, controlling temperature through evaporative cooling and/or injecting chemicals that react with gas stream components. Cooled flue gas mixes with hydrated lime capturing decomposed PFAS molecules with spent lime filtered from the cooled flue gas using a filter system that may incorporate catalyst impregnated filter elements, eliminating PFAS from wastewater biosolids and controlling emissions in the resulting flue gas.

  • Patent number: 12644430
Abstract: A hydrokinetic turbine system with dynamic tuning capabilities is disclosed. Individual hydrokinetic turbine units are dynamically tuned to accommodate changes in height and flow velocity corresponding to water in a waterway. Dynamically tuning the turbine units to accommodate waterway changes optimizes power generation output. Dynamically tuning a turbine system includes raising or lowering turbine blade height, extending or retracting turbine blade length, and narrowing or widening a turbine mouth, channel, and exit through which water flows. The hydrokinetic turbines may be arranged in an array along a waterway, and each hydrokinetic turbine in the array is connected over a controls system configured to adjust turbine characteristics at each turbine unit in the array for optimizing power generation output for the waterway in which the turbine array is installed.

  • Publication number: 20260035630
Abstract: A system for processing dewatered biosolids and other municipal waste includes a biosolids dryer coupled to a plasma or ionic reactor (a gasifier). The biosolids dryer mixes dewatered biosolids with heated dried biosolids to produce dried granulated biosolids which are provided to the gasifier. The gasifier implements a high or an ultra-high temperature ionic gasification or reformation process to produce renewable syngas that can be used to provide heat, power, renewable fuels, renewable hydrogen, and/or renewable chemical production. The gasifier generates electrical arcs across the interior of a gasifier reaction chamber creating a localized, controlled temperature in excess of 3,000° C. along with ionic gas or particles (plasma). This ultra-high temperature gasification zone and active ionic environment combine to break down molecules very effectively and efficiently into their constituent atoms, in a process called complete molecular dissociation.

  • Patent number: 12333442
Abstract: Particular embodiments can update a deployed machine learning model with actual entity data depending on anomalies detected in stream data, which can be stored to a computer object, such as a journal. Various embodiments map particular subsets of a larger pool of raw input data to the particular models that need the input data and store the raw input data to computer objects so that the corresponding machine learning models can make predictions according to any suitable policy or triggering event on any of the data located in the computer objects. Such mapping allows each machine learning model to continuously make predictions based on the data it needs.

  • Patent number: 12287283
Abstract: An optical sensor may be used to measure the concentration of calcium in a water sample, such as a water sample obtained from industrial process water system like a cooling tower system, a boiler water system, or a waste water system. To measure the concentration of calcium, an indicator or reagent may be added to the water sample to form a complex that absorbs light. The absorbance profile of the complex may be non-linear over a range of calcium concentrations. However, the absorbance profile can be linearized to provide calibration coefficients that are subsequently used to determine the concentration of calcium in samples having unknown calcium concentrations. The linearization of the absorbance profile can allow the optical sensor to be calibrated using two solutions. This can reduce the complexity and cost of calibrating the optical sensor, which may otherwise require at least three calibration solutions to capture the non-linear profile of the absorbance curve.
