Patent number: 8626406Abstract: A user interface alerts an operator of the lead vehicle if the follower vehicle location is within a predefined radius of the lead vehicle location and a predetermined angular difference with respect to a heading of the lead vehicle. A user interface response mechanism is configured such that the operator can accept or reject jointly coordinated movement of the lead vehicle and follower vehicle for unloading the lead vehicle during an unloading period. The first wireless communications device is adapted to transmit an alignment data message to the follower vehicle to maintain a target offset between the lead vehicle and the follower vehicle, where the target offset is based on a first vehicle identifier of the follower vehicle, a second vehicle identifier of the lead vehicle, and preset target offset stored in at data storage device associated with the lead vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2012Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Tyler D Schleicher, Dale O Pellatz, Frederick W Nelson, Matthew D Potter, Monte E Miller, Brandon G Leiran

Patent number: 8346443Abstract: A method and system for managing the turning of a vehicle comprises establishing a boundary of a work area. A location-determining receiver determines an observed position and velocity of the vehicle in the work area. An estimator estimates a first duration from an observed time when the vehicle will intercept the boundary based on determined position and velocity of the vehicle. An alert generator generates an alert during a second duration from the observed time. The second duration is less than or approximately equal to the first duration. An operator interface allows an operator to enter a command to control a path of the vehicle prior to or at the boundary.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2012Date of Patent: January 1, 2013Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Aaron Matthew Senneff, Brandon G. Leiran, Kevin A. Reigeluth

Patent number: 8209075Abstract: A method and system for controlling a vehicle comprises a boundary establisher for establishing a boundary of a work area. A vehicle position sensor (e.g., a location-determining receiver) determines a position of the vehicle. A planner module plans a raw turn of a vehicle to be executed in accordance with a model turn pattern if the position of the vehicle has traversed the boundary. An adjustment module may adjust the raw turn of the vehicle to a compensated turn such that an implement coupled to the vehicle follows an implement path that substantially tracks the model turn pattern.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2008Date of Patent: June 26, 2012Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Aaron Matthew Senneff, Brandon G. Patent number: 7739015Abstract: A system and method for controlling a vehicle with a sequence of vehicle events. A user interface allows the recording of vehicle functions that are being manually executed. After the vehicle functions are entered, they can be saved as a sequence and named appropriately. Once saved, the operator can choose to edit the sequence functions or distances to make adjustments or shift the entire sequence in time. The saved sequence can be executed at a certain distance relative to a boundary being crossed by the machine. The boundaries themselves may be pre-defined in the system, and the system can determine when the boundary is crossed based on real-time GPS position and speed measurements from the vehicle. Error distances can also be measured on the ground to determine what type of sequence shift is needed for fine-tuning. As the vehicle speed is adjusted, the sequence can be continually tuned to allow the sequence to execute accurately in a variety of operations.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2007Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Aaron Matthew Senneff, Timothy J. An estimator estimates a first duration from an observed time when the vehicle will intercept the boundary based on determined position and velocity of the vehicle. An alert generator generates an alert during a second duration from the observed time. The second duration is less than the first duration by a control time window. An operator interface allows an operator to enter a command to control a path of the vehicle prior to or at the boundary.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2008Publication date: August 27, 2009Inventors: Aaron Matthew Senneff, Brandon G.
