Patent number: 8267050Abstract: An adjustable leash with automatic slack take-up assembly comprising a pulley buckle and cam buckle. The lead end of the leash strap is affixed to a top opening of the pulley buckle, and the leash body is movably threaded in operative order through a first opening of the cam buckle, a bottom opening of the pulley buckle, and a second opening of the cam buckle. In operation, a user maintains a grip at all times on the lead handle. The user depresses the spring loaded tab with the user's other hand. While depressing the spring loaded tab, the user pulls a pull tab on the cam buckle with the second hand to either lengthen or shorten the device. Once a desired length has been formed, with automatic slack take-up as the leash length is adjusted, the user releases the spring loaded tab to lock the device into position.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2010Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Inventors: Brandon Hatcher, Kerensa Durr

Patent number: 7313866Abstract: A spring assist folding knife and method of biasing a blade in a folding knife. The folding knife includes a blade, liner, and handle. The blade includes a first recess for receiving a pivot pin. The blade includes a second recess offset from the axis of rotation. A latch cam having an offset pin is located relative to the second recess. The liner includes an arcuate slot in which the offset pin of the latch cam is located. The arcuate slot within the liner or handle also includes a convex extension. A spring is configured to provide a force in the direction of blade opening and provides the force throughout the entire range of blade motion. The spring applies its force to the offset pin to bias the blade in the closed position until the blade reaches a predetermined angle. Then the spring biases the blade to the open position.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2006Date of Patent: January 1, 2008Assignee: Buck Knives, Inc.Inventors: Eric Linn, Paul Naranjo, Paul Kassa, Brandon Hatcher

Publication number: 20060080841Abstract: A fixed-blade knife includes a unitary blade having an implement, a tang, and a pivot region between the implement and the tang. The unitary blade is disposed between a pair of parallel and spaced-apart side pieces that pivot to cover or expose the implement. In the pivoted position wherein the implement is exposed, the side pieces form part of the handle that is used to grasp the knife. A locking structure locks the side pieces in a selectable position, and a limit structure prevents overrotation of the side pieces.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2005Publication date: April 20, 2006Applicant: Buck Knives, Inc.Inventors: Brandon Hatcher, Stephen Hull, Dean Hussey, Eric Linn, Robert Pinto, Michael Williams, Mathew Hlavac
