Publication number: 20240077985Abstract: An electronic device may include one or more sensors that capture sensor data for a physical environment around the electronic device. The sensor data may be used to determine a scene understanding data set for an extended reality environment including the electronic device. The scene understanding data set may include information such as spatial information, information regarding physical objects in the extended reality environment, and information regarding virtual objects in the extended reality environment. When providing scene understanding data to one or more applications running on the electronic device, spatial and/or temporal restrictions may be applied to the scene understanding data set. Scene understanding data that is associated with locations within a boundary and that is associated with times after a cutoff time may be provided to an application.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2023Publication date: March 7, 2024Inventors: Divya T. Publication number: 20230358847Abstract: Methods, non-transitory machine-readable mediums, and system to provide historical positioning information are described. In an embodiment, a device detects one or more conditions in user contextual data that trigger collection of a set of historical positions for a lookback window, the device receives at least one historical position from the set of historical positions for the lookback window, the device classifies the at least one historical position based on one or more features as a candidate location for a backtrack route, and the device determines to provide the at least one historical position as part of the lookback window based on the classification.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2023Publication date: November 9, 2023Inventors: Michael P. Dal Santo, Christine Zhu, Adam M. Driscoll, Brandon J. Van Ryswyk, Richard B. Warren, Jared K. McGann

Patent number: 11788851Abstract: In some embodiments, an electronic device displays suggested routes based on the characteristics of respective vehicles. In some embodiments, an electronic device receives data for respective vehicles from a source external to the electronic device. In some embodiments, an electronic device anonymizes a vehicle identifier and determines customized suggested routes using the anonymized vehicle identifier.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2020Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Yun Jae Kim, Brian J. Publication number: 20230259548Abstract: Described herein are techniques to enable limited access to a photos library by enabling application specific virtual photo libraries. When an application requests access to the photos library, the user can select an option to enable or configure a virtual photos library, and then select specific assets (e.g., photos, videos) within the photos library to be selected for inclusion into an application specific virtual photos library.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 3, 2023Publication date: August 17, 2023Inventors: Matthew J. DICKOFF, Jessica ARANDA, Patrick COFFMAN, Richard L. HAGY, Stephen J. RHEE, Nicole R. RYAN, Adam C. SWIFT, Gavin B. THOMSON, Brandon J. VAN RYSWYK

Patent number: 11653324Abstract: A location control subsystem is provided that allows a user of an electronic device to define the granularity used to provide location coarseness. A user can define a coarse location granularity for an application. When a coarse device location is reported to an application, the location can be provided with at least a minimum degree of variable specificity based on the selected location coarseness. When an application is granted a coarse location, the application is to interpret the provided location indicating that the user may be anywhere within a geographic region of variable specificity, as opposed to being close to a center point with a horizontal accuracy based on the precision of the location fix, as when a fine granularity location is provided. In addition to reducing the spatial resolution of the location that is reported to the application, the temporal resolution may also be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2021Date of Patent: May 16, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Adam M. Publication number: 20220382838Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to computing security and privacy. In some embodiments, a computing device provides, to a service computing system, a service request that identifies an action and includes an anonymous identifier for a user of the computing device. The computing device receives, from the service computing system, a score request for a trustworthiness score indicative of the user's trustworthiness. In response to receiving the score request from the service computing system, the computing device provides information indicative of the user's identity to a scoring computing system and receives the trustworthiness score and a corresponding score signature from the scoring computing system. In response to receiving the score and the score signature from the scoring computing system, the computing device provides the score to the service computing system.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2022Publication date: December 1, 2022Inventors: Fabio Sozzani, Isabella M. Funke, Frederic Jacobs, Brandon J. Van Ryswyk

Publication number: 20220198050Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are described herein to query data in an entity data database. A query for information about a set of entities is received from a requesting system. The query is in a predefined format and includes search conditions. A querying strategy is determined based on the received query. The entity data database is queried by identifying a set of user records that fulfill a first search condition. A numerical value of the set of user records is next compared to a threshold. Depending on the numerical value, the set of user records is assigned to a first numerical bucket. Depending on the bucket, the numerical value is changed to a second numerical value, which is used to generate an aggregated count value. The aggregated count value is shared with the requesting system.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2021Publication date: June 23, 2022Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Deima Elnatour, Elli Shapiro, Muhammad Mohsin K.
