  • Publication number: 20190029966
Abstract: The disclosure provides orally administrable capsules comprising abuse-resistant, pharmaceutical formulations which comprise abuse-susceptible active agents such as opioids. The formulations provide abuse resistance by having a sufficiently high viscosity that substantially prevents the formulation and opioid therein, from being drawn into a syringe, at room temperature or higher, either alone or when mixed with water or other liquids.

Inventors: Victor Morrison Young, Michael Forbes, Alyn Brandon McNaughton
  • Patent number: 8697029
Abstract: The present invention relates to modulated (e.g., magnetically modulated) chemical sensors. In particular, the present invention relates to particles comprising fluorescent indicator dyes and methods of using such particles. Magnetic fields and/or Brownian motion modulate an optical property of the particle to distinguish it from background signals. The present invention thus provides improved methods of detecting a wide variety of analytes in fluids, fluid samples, cells and tissues.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 29, 2005
Date of Patent: April 15, 2014
Assignee: The Regents of the University of Michigan
Inventors: Jeffrey Anker, Caleb Behrend, Raoul Kopelman, Brandon McNaughton
  • Patent number: 7445795
Abstract: An active principle delivery device (1) comprising an inner capsule (4) within an outer capsule (2), the inner and outer capsules (4,2) containing the same active principle (5,3), with at least the outer capsule (2) being a hard capsule and the active principle (3,5) in at least one of the capsules (2,4), comprising a fluid. Also provided is a method of fabricating such a delivery device (1), as well as a method of controlling the pharmaco-kinetic profile of an active principle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 19, 2001
Date of Patent: November 4, 2008
    Assignee: MW Encap Limited
Inventors: Massoud Bakhshaee, William John Bowtle, Alyn Brandon McNaughton
