  • Patent number: 11995237
Abstract: An arm-wearable device for sensing neuromuscular signals using a shared reference electrode that is shared between two or more electrodes is provided. The arm-wearable device includes a structure configured to be worn by a user, the structure having an interior surface configured to contact a user's skin when the arm-wearable device is donned by the user. The arm-wearable device includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a shared reference electrode, each electrode contacts the user's skin above respective neuromuscular pathways of the user when the wearable structure is worn by the user. The first and second electrodes detect neuromuscular signals and the shared reference electrode detects a reference neuromuscular signal. The arm-wearable device includes circuitry configured to compare the neuromuscular signals and the reference neuromuscular signal to determine a motor action that the user intends to perform with their hand.

  • Patent number: 11045137
Abstract: Arrangements for improving neuromuscular recording electrode contact with a body surface are described. According to some aspects, a sensor assembly may include a housing and one or more electrodes that are moveable relative to the housing. The electrodes may rotate and/or translate relative to the housing and/or have at least two degrees of freedom relative to the housing. The sensor may include a spring element that stores potential energy and biases the electrodes toward a starting position in which the electrodes extend at least partially out of the sensor housing. In some embodiments, application of a contact force to one or more of the electrodes of the sensor compresses the spring element, causing the spring element to store potential energy.

  • Publication number: 20090067085
Abstract: Devices are provided herein in a variety of examples that inhibit particle pickup and transport and mechanical vibrations and provide other advantages. In one illustrative example, an actuator assembly includes a base, an actuator disposed on the base, and a shroud disposed on the base around the actuator. The shroud includes one or more shroud walls disposed between the actuator and a flow channel exterior to the shroud. The shroud walls may include shielding walls that partially surround the actuator, radially curved shroud wall segments, fastener well shields that substantially separate an interior thereof from the actuator, and other aspects. A data storage device may have a flow path defined therein, and the shroud may be disposed around an actuator within the data storage device, providing a streamlined surface between the flow path and the actuator.
