  • Patent number: 11994220
Abstract: Air valves, such as wastegates, utilize a shaft that rotates within a bushing system. Conventional deposition processes limit the thickness of the wear material between the shaft and bushing system. Accordingly, embodiments disclosed herein utilize one or more coating sleeves that are press-fit onto the shaft. This enables a thicker layer of wear material to be applied to the shaft, thereby improving the longevity and durability of the air valve, while also simplifying the manufacturing process. Embodiments may also utilize one or more anti-rotation features, such as a dowel or axial protrusion, and/or may utilize snap ring(s) to prevent axial sliding of the coating sleeve(s).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 10, 2022
Date of Patent: May 28, 2024
    Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.
Inventors: Rodney Allen Lawrence, Eric Ferguson, Brandyn Stack

  • Patent number: 11118688
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fluid supply system for a machine. The fluid supply system includes a throttle assembly having a first shaft attached to a valve member and a fluid shutoff assembly. The fluid shutoff assembly includes a second shaft, a locking member having an axis parallel to an axis of the second shaft and comprising a locking arm extending toward the second shaft, a biasing member fixedly attached to the second shaft, a releasing mechanism adjacent to the locking member that rotates the locking member about the longitudinal axis of the locking member, and a coupler comprising a first coupling hub attached to the first shaft and a second coupling hub attached to the second shaft and interfaced with the first coupling hub.

  • Publication number: 20160201595
Abstract: An internal combustion engine having an oil drain opening connected to an oil drain passage in a cylinder head for simultaneously providing flow of oil to a crankcase and blow-by gases to a crankcase ventilation whereby the geometry of the oil drain opening and oil drain passage are such that the velocity of blow-by gas flow through the oil drain opening is limited.
