  • Publication number: 20160085252
Abstract: Methods and systems for a low-dropout regulator may comprise a voltage regulator comprising: (a) a pass transistor having a first terminal at a control gate, a voltage input at a second terminal, and a voltage output at a third terminal, and (b) an adaptive control circuit (ACC), electrically coupled to a reference voltage and each of the terminals of the pass transistor. The ACC may determine a AV between the second and third terminals and cause an error signal to be applied to the first terminal to keep AV essentially constant as the voltage input varies. The ACC may include a voltage summing circuit electrically coupled to the reference voltage and the input voltage to generate a comparison value. An error amplifier electrically coupled to the control gate and to the voltage summing circuit may generate the error signal from the comparison value and the output voltage.

  • Patent number: 9235678
Abstract: A method and an apparatus from such method for designing an integrated circuit (IC) that mitigates the effects of process, voltage, and temperature dependent characteristics on the fabrication of advanced IC's but provides high die yields, lower power usage, and faster circuits. Conventional design process takes into account power supply voltage Vdd as a variable that must be considered in a skewed corner analysis. The disclosure teaches that the IC design process can be substantially simplified by essentially factoring out voltage based variations in corner lot analysis for IC designs that include dynamic voltage scaling circuitry, because each fabricated IC die of an IC design having dynamic voltage scaling can individually adjust the applied supply voltage Vdd within a range to offset local process-induced variations in the performance of that specific IC die.

  • Publication number: 20150350596
Abstract: A method and apparatus in which a Tap-Weight Computer (TWC) calculates a Tap-Weight Vector (TWV). The TWV is coupled to a register in each of a plurality of adaptive filter modules. Each such adaptive filter module includes several adaptive filters that each include a tapped delay line. The input to the tapped delay line of each such adaptive filter is one of a plurality of potential interfering signals. The TWV controls the weighting of the outputs from the taps off the delay line. The weighted outputs from each tapped delay line are then subtracted from a received signal which potentially includes interference from the potential interfering signals. The TWC is multiplexed to each of the plurality of adaptive filters so that each adaptive filter is loaded with a TWV calculated by the TWC to reduce the amount of interference contributed by a particular potential interfering signal coupled to an input to that particular adaptive filter.

  • Patent number: 9201436
Abstract: An adaptive low dropout voltage regulator (LDO) circuit having low power dissipation, and a method of regulating voltage while maintaining low power dissipation. Power dissipation in an LDO circuit is controlled and held to a low value using an LDO circuit that maintains a constant voltage difference between Vin and Vout; that is, ?V=Vin?Vout is approximately constant rather than linearly variable as a function of Vin. The output voltage Vout essentially tracks the input voltage Vin with an offset equal to ?V; Vout increases as Vin, but is kept between minimum and maximum voltage output specification limits.

  • Patent number: 9203462
Abstract: Systems and methods for removing interference from a received signal. A model of a leakage path from a transmit section to a receive section is used to assist in designing a set of iterative filters to remove interference. Modeling the leakage path allows generation of the first approximation of the transfer function of the leakage path traversed by the signals coupled from the transmit section to the receive section. The first approximation narrows down the universe of possible distortions that might occur due to the transfer function of the leakage path. Narrowing down the universe of possible solutions makes the complexity of the interference control section more manageable. An iterative LMS function is used to further refine the coefficients of the adaptive filters.

  • Publication number: 20150338901
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing power to a home entertainment integrated circuit chip are disclosed. The home entertainment integrated circuit chip can operate in at least two power control modes: “power on” mode and “standby” mode. In power on mode, power is supplied to IC core module from a main power supply. The power supplied to the IC core module is isolated from power supplied to a standby island. Accordingly, during the second mode power is applied only to the standby power island through a regulator internal to the integrated circuit chip. The regulator is coupled to an external peripheral input/output (I/O) power supply that is independent of the main power supply.

  • Publication number: 20150304100
Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing interference caused by leakage of signals generated by a spread spectrum phase lock loop (SS PLL). The system and method uses a sinusoidal spreading signal to spread the output of a SS PLL. A notch filter tracks the frequency of the output of the SS PLL to steer the notch in the filter to the instantaneous frequency output from the SS PLL, thus allowing the notch filter to be placed in the path of signals that have unwanted leakage from the SS PLL.
