Patent number: 11625280Abstract: A cloud-native proxy gateway is reachable from a central server and from an isolated cloud VM. A method allows legacy (non-cloud native) solutions to establish a secure connection to the isolated cloud VM, even when incoming port flows are not enabled. The method involves transforming a TCP/IP network connection request into a cloud API call, ignoring IP addresses, and instead using a unique cloud resource identifier as the primary network routing methodology. In response to a communication connection request by the central server, the isolated VM establishes a reverse tunnel to the cloud-native proxy gateway. Communication flow initiated by the central server proceeds through the reverse tunnel to the isolated VM, avoiding an issue of duplicate IP addresses in the cloud.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2020Date of Patent: April 11, 2023Assignee: BMC Software, Inc.Inventors: Eric Michael Anderson, Brendan Farrell, Saifuddin Fazlehusen Rangwala, Ajoy Kumar

Publication number: 20060090600Abstract: The present invention provides a metallic composition, which contains a plurality of ultra-fine metallic particles (e.g., ultra-fine copper, nickel, or silver particles) having at least one desirable feature, such as, tight size distribution, low degree of agglomeration, and high degree of crystallinity and oxidation resistance. The present invention further provides a method for forming the ultra-fine metallic particles. Also provided are a substance or substrate coated with the ultra-fine metallic particles and a method of coating a substance or substrate with the ultra-fine metallic particles. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method of controlling the size of ultra-fine metal particles formed in a reducing reaction in a liquid. Also provided is a method for producing ultra-fine metallic particles, which utilizes a concentrated reaction system.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2004Publication date: May 4, 2006Inventors: Dan Goia, Daniel Andreescu, Brendan Farrell

Publication number: 20050121950Abstract: A DVD disc is held in a seat (4) of a casing's back cover (2) by a central retainer (6). Four barriers (7), two on each of opposed sides, are integrally moulded in the cover (2) and face upwardly towards the seat (4). When the front cover (3) is closed the barriers (7) press against it, closing the gap between the covers. If a thief tries to slip a disc out of the casing, movement is blocked by the barriers (7). Another barrier (201) is connected to the retainer (205) and can only be removed by breaking it. This also provides a tamper-evident seal.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 24, 2004Publication date: June 9, 2005Inventors: John Hegarty, Brendan Farrell, Katharina Pfutzner, Dominic Southgate

Patent number: 6892878Abstract: A DVD case (1) is of integral one-part moulded plastics construction. A retainer (15) has two opposed retainer parts (32) having lips (33) for engagement of a DVD at opposed sides of its central aperture. The DVD is released by the parts (32) being moved closer together. However there is no need for the user to press them directly. He or she simply presses a push-button (20) at the edge of the seat, causing the parts (32) to move together in a simple action caused by an integrally moulded release mechanism (16, 17).Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2004Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: Dualbox LimitedInventors: John Hegarty, Brendan Farrell, Katharina Pfutzner, Dominic Southgate

Publication number: 20010008014Abstract: A portable communication device (1) automatically accesses a network server such as an ISP upon insertion of a card (30). The card (30) stores user-specific data setting conditions for controlled access to the server. This allows different users to have controlled access according to their situation. For example a child may use a card for access confined to children's Web sites. The device (1) updates the card and encrypts the user data. Proxy servers are used to control access.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2001Publication date: July 12, 2001Inventors: Brendan Farrell, Patrick O'Donnell

Patent number: 6061244Abstract: A carrier for an electronic device such as a disk drive comprises a hollow casing for accomodating the electronic device. The casing is configured for sliding insertion into and out of a rack having a back plane with at least one lamp which in use indicates the status of the electronic device. At least one light guide extends from the front to the rear of the casing. The rear end of the light guide is in register with the lamp when the casing is inserted in the rack and light emerging from the front end of the light guide is visible at the front of the casing. Thus the status of the device can be ascertained without the need for lamps on the front of the carrier and attendant wiring from the back plane.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1997Date of Patent: May 9, 2000Assignee: Richmount Computers LimitedInventors: Hans O'Sullivan, Brendan Farrell

Patent number: 6050658Abstract: A carrier for an electronic device comprises a hollow casing (14) for accomodating the electronic device, which casing is configured for sliding insertion into and out of a rack. A latch (46) at the rear of the casing releasably retains the casing in the rack, and an actuating rod (52) extends from the front of the casing to the latch to operate the latter. A lock (104) on the front (16) of the carrier releasably locks the actuating rod (52) in the latched position of the latch (46) to prevent unauthorised withdrawal of the carrier from the rack.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1998Date of Patent: April 18, 2000Assignee: Richmount Computer LimitedInventors: Hans O'Sullivan, Brendan Farrell

Patent number: 5415038Abstract: This invention relates to hand-held instruments such as moisture meters (1). An extruded aluminum channel is cut to form a housing blank (2). This blank has inwardly directed ribs (20, 21) which form grooves so that a circuit (22) may be easily slid into the housing, as may a backing plate (27). End caps (5, 14) are secured to the ends of the blank (2) using self-tapping screws (5(a), 5(b)) which engage the ends of ribs (20, 21). The instrument is of extremely rigid construction and does not distort easily and secondly, the method of production is extremely simple and versatile. Versatility is achieved, for example, by the fact that the backing plate may include any different type of sensor and the front of the instrument may be configured according to a label which is secured to the housing blank which may cover apertures which are not needed for switches. Thus, the same housing blank may be used for all instruments and the same manufacturing techniques may also be used.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1992Date of Patent: May 16, 1995Assignee: Rynhart Research LimitedInventors: Alan Rynhart, Brendan Farrell, Sean Fallon
