  • Publication number: 20160196494
Abstract: A method for inferring a relationship between a first user and an area is disclosed, where the user is associated with one or more user devices. The method comprises retrieving event records having user device information corresponding to the user devices, and inferring, based on the event records, a relationship between the user and the area. A method for determining the presence of users at a location of a plurality of locations organised in a hierarchical structure is also disclosed. The method comprises receiving an indication of a location selected from the hierarchical structure, determining nodes associated with the selected location, retrieving event records from each node, and determining, based on the retrieved records, a number of users located at the selected location.

  • Publication number: 20090186698
Abstract: There is described a system for a user to control the movement of an object in a video game, comprising: a direction sensor arranged to sense a directional input by the user; a movement sensor arranged to sense gross movement of the user; and a processor arranged to combine the sensed directional input and the sensed movement to provide an output signal for controlling the movement of the game object, the output signal being provided such that a direction of movement of the game object varies in dependence upon the sensed directional input and a magnitude of movement of the game object varies in dependence upon the sensed movement. A method for a user to control the movement of an object in a video game is also described.

  • Publication number: 20080214306
Abstract: There is described a controller, for example, for a game. The controller comprises a controller body, first and second limbs extending from the controller body, a sensor array, and an output. The first and second limbs define respective first and second axes, and the limbs are each rotatable about their respective axis. The sensor array comprises at least one sensor arranged to sense relative positions of the limbs in relation to the controller body, and the output is arranged to provide a signal which varies in dependence upon the sensed relative positions. There is also described game playing equipment comprising such a controller.

  • Patent number: 6347228
Abstract: Apparatus for determining the location of a subscriber unit (1) in a mobile telecommunications network, and particularly in a GSM cellular network, includes the provision of several receiver stations (4, 5, 6) positioned at separate known locations within each cell. Each of the receiver stations (4, 5, 6), which are synchronised by means of an on-board GPS receiver (10), measures the time of arrival of a message transmitted from the subscriber unit (1). The time of arrival measurements recorded by each receiver station (4, 5, 6) are then transmitted to a base transceiver station (2) for computation of the subscriber unit's location relative to the receiver stations. The apparatus can provide a reasonably accurate means for location with a low susceptibility to interference.
