Publication number: 20230005012Abstract: Aspects described herein may relate to techniques for segmenting one transaction into multiple sub-transactions. A user may wish to purchase multiple items. The overall purchase request may be segmented into multiple sub-transactions based on a transaction category of each item. Transaction categories may be based on merchant category codes (MCCs). Each sub-transaction may include one or more items related to the same transaction category. Each sub-transaction may be underwritten and approved separately by the merchant and/or a financial institution (e.g., a credit card company). Financial information related to each different transaction category may be determined based on the sub-transactions. Reward offers may be provided in a more robust manner based on the different transaction categories determined during the purchase process.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2021Publication date: January 5, 2023Inventors: Abdelkader M'Hamed Benkreira, Brendan Way, Tyler Maiman

Publication number: 20220407893Abstract: A security system for a network may be configured to detect one or more failed authentication attempts to access the network by at least one user device and determine the number of the failed authentication attempts. The system may determine a first risk score based on the number of failed authentication attempts and determine whether the first risk score is greater than or equal to a first risk score threshold and generate a first notification indicating that the user device is attempting to gain unauthorized access onto the network. The system may transmit the first notification to an administrator of the network, determine the user device is successfully authenticated to access the network after the number of failed authentication attempts has been detected, and apply a first set of network activity restrictions to the user device.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2021Publication date: December 22, 2022Inventors: Tyler MAIMAN, Abdelkader BENKREIRA, Brendan WAY

Publication number: 20220366354Abstract: An artificial intelligence (AI) system including an AI engine is configured to receive identification information entered into an interface, receive at least one location input entered into the interface, select at least one security question and present the selected at least one security question via the interface, and receive an answer to the at least one security question. The AI engine is further configured to apply a predictive model to determine a confidence score based on the identification information entered into the interface, the location input entered into the interface, and the answer to the at least one security question and, when the confidence score exceeds a confidence score threshold, provide user location information, the user location information selected from the user location information stored in a data storage. The provided user location information can be masked to conceal the user location information from display on the interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2021Publication date: November 17, 2022Inventors: Tyler MAIMAN, Abdelkader BENKREIRA, Brendan WAY

Publication number: 20220335447Abstract: A system can include a machine learning model trained to develop preference profiles based on historical user interaction data and instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing system to perform operations. The operations can include receiving, from one or more third party networks, historical user interaction data associated with a first user; processing the historical user interaction data with the machine learning model to generate the preference profile of the first user; receiving, from a user device associated with a second user, an identifier associated with the first user; detecting an object displayed on the user device; generating, via the machine learning model, a compatibility score based on comparing the detected object to the preference profile of the first user; and causing the compatibility score to be displayed on the user device.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 2021Publication date: October 20, 2022Applicant: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Tyler Maiman, Abdelkader M'Hamed Benkreira, Brendan Way

Patent number: 11449874Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to a method and system for provisioning a merchant-specific payment apparatus, such as a temporary payment card, via a computing device, such as an automated teller machine (ATM). A user, such as a customer, may specify a merchant. A record of known payment acceptance types at that merchant may be returned, which may be used to determine what type of temporary payment card gets issued to the user.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2020Date of Patent: September 20, 2022Assignee: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Abdelkader M'Hamed Benkreira, Tyler Maiman, Brendan Way

Patent number: 11227316Abstract: A device may access payment data of a first payment account and a second payment account that are associated with a first user and a second user, respectively, wherein the payment data includes descriptions of payments to vendors. The device may group the vendors into subsets of vendors based on characteristics of the vendors. The device may determine relative weightings for respective vendors within the subsets. The device may receive a request for a vendor recommendation for a meeting between the first user and the second user, wherein the request identifies parameters for the meeting. The device may generate the vendor recommendation for the meeting by identifying candidate vendors based on the parameters for the meeting and selecting one or more of the candidate vendors based on the relative weightings for the respective vendors.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2020Date of Patent: January 18, 2022Assignee: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Brendan Way, Taurean Butler, Abdelkader M'Hamed Benkreira

Publication number: 20210342816Abstract: Various examples generally directed to unlocking a locked contactless card for use as payment in card-present transactions are provided. The contactless card is a payment card associated with a payment account. An application executing on a mobile device may be operable to enable unlocking the locked contactless card and receive an indication that the contactless card associated with the mobile device is unlocked for use in card-present transactions. The application may present information related to permitted uses of the unlocked contactless card via a graphical user interface. The permitted uses of the unlocked contactless card may be modified via the graphical user interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2020Publication date: November 4, 2021Applicant: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Abdelkader M'Hamed BENKREIRA, Tyler MAIMAN, Brendan WAY

Publication number: 20210289071Abstract: A user device may output an indication of an incoming call from a calling device. The user device may receive a request to screen the incoming call. The user device may analyze a transcription of voice input, received from the calling device, for one or more keywords related to a request for funds. The user device may output one or more input options, which permit a user of the user device to respond to the request for funds, including an input option to transfer funds from a first account associated with the user device to a second account associated with the calling device. The user device may detect a user interaction with the input option to transfer funds from the first account to the second account. The user device may transmit a request that causes funds to be transferred from the first account to the second account.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2021Publication date: September 16, 2021Inventors: Brendan WAY, Kaylyn GIBILTERRA, Abdelkader M'Hamed BENKREIRA

Publication number: 20210264455Abstract: A device may detect a first entry of a first user device of a first user into a merchant area. The device may monitor a movement of the first user device within the merchant area. The movement may include a transition from a shopping area of the merchant area to a checkout area of the merchant area. The device may detect a transaction between the first user and the merchant. The device may determine a shopping duration for the first user and a checkout duration for the first user. The device may detect a second entry of a second user device of a second user into the merchant area. The device may perform one or more actions based on detecting the second entry.
