    Abstract: Enhanced data storage devices in various form factors are discussed herein. In one example, a storage drive includes a plurality of storage devices configured to store and retrieve data responsive to operations received over Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) interfaces, a PCIe switch circuit communicatively coupled to the PCIe interfaces of the storage devices and configured to receive over a host connector the operations issued by a host system and transfer the storage operations for ones of the storage devices over associated ones of the PCIe interfaces. The storage drive includes holdup circuitry configured to provide holdup power the storage devices. The storage drive includes a first circuit board assembly comprising three storage device connectors that couple to corresponding storage devices, and a second circuit board assembly comprising a further storage device connector that couples to a further storage device.

Each drawer of the plurality of drawers provides mounting for one or more storage devices. All storage devices in any drawer of the plurality of drawers are inserted or removed through a common side of the drawer. Any storage device may be inserted or removed from any drawer of the plurality of drawers even if the side surfaces of the chassis are each parallel to and in contact with a wall, each of the walls extending forward at least to a fully extended length of any drawer. Electrical failures in any one drawer are prevented from affecting any other drawer of the plurality of drawers. The one or more power supplies provides DC power to the plurality of drawers.

The spring includes a first end, where the first end is held captive when the spring is installed in the chassis. The spring includes a second end, opposite the first end, and a body between the first and second ends. The body is formed with serpentine bends proceeding linearly between the first and second ends and in a common plane with the first end. The second end is oriented orthogonal to the common plane. The spring is in expansion when the storage device module is inserted into the chassis. The storage device module pushes against the second end when the storage device module is fully inserted into the chassis. The spring exerts force outward from the chassis when expanded.
