  • Patent number: 11746871
Abstract: A method for mitigating torque steer in a vehicle having a steering axle with a limited slip differential and a pair of output members. The limited slip differential includes a pair of differential outputs and a clutch. The method includes: operating the limited slip differential with the clutch in the first condition; determining that the vehicle is in a state in which a torque steer condition is occurring or is likely to occur; and operating the clutch to reduce a torque differential between the differential outputs to mitigate the torque steer condition. A vehicle with a steering axle and a controller that is configured to operate a clutch in the steering axle to attenuate torque steer is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20080185186
Abstract: An assembly for use in drilling in earth borehole using a drill string including a drill bit comprising a first downhole motor having a rotor operatively connected to said drill bit, a second downhole motor distal said first downhole motor, said second downhole motor having a rotor with a passageway therethrough and a bypass valve operatively connected to the second downhole motor, the bypass valve having a first position permitting drilling fluid to flow through said passageway and a second position wherein drilling fluid is prevented from flowing through said passageway.

  • Publication number: 20070145873
Abstract: A drawer includes a pair of opposite drawer side members and a pair of opposite drawer end members. Each of the opposite side members have ends and are joined at their ends to ends of the opposite end members to form a perimeter frame for the drawer. Each of the opposite side members and opposite end members have a drawer bottom stop extending along a lower portion thereof and a bottom clip receiving channel below and spaced from the bottom stop. A drawer bottom sized and shaped to fit within the perimeter frame is positioned in the perimeter frame against the drawer bottom stops and drawer bottom holding clips are inserted into and received by the clip receiving channel to sandwich and hold the drawer bottom between the drawer bottom stops and the drawer bottom holding clips to provide a bottom or floor for the drawer.

  • Publication number: 20070009324
Abstract: A safety marker configured to be ejected from a moving or stopped vehicle includes a compliant compartment with a bottom surface that is at least partially rounded to self-orient the safety marker. A displaceable material can be disposed in the compliant compartment, and a visual indicator can extend upwardly from the compliant compartment.

  • Patent number: 7108446
Abstract: A safety marker deployment system and method includes a plurality of safety markers removably associated with a motor vehicle in a laterally pre-positioned array substantially corresponding to a desired lateral position on a roadway. The safety markers can be removably disposed in an elongated container mountable to the motor vehicle. Each of a plurality of sequential ejectors is associated with one of the plurality of safety markers to sequentially deploy the safety markers, while the vehicle is moving, in a longitudinal configuration substantially corresponding to a desired longitudinal position on the roadway. The safety markers include a displaceable material disposed in a compliant compartment, and a visual indicator extending upwardly from the compliant compartment.

  • Publication number: 20050217898
Abstract: A drill collar primarily for use with measurement-while-drilling and logging-while-drilling sensors, the drill collar composed of a non-magnetic nickel alloy, and having three or four elongate nitral elastomer ribs parallel the longitudinal axis and mounted on the inner surface of the drill collar, defining a central aperture for receiving the down-hole sensor and inter-rib apertures for receiving drilling fluid. This novel drill collar is especially useful in rough or underbalanced drilling applications, protecting the sensor and enhancing measurement accuracy by dampening flow-based harmonic vibrations, absorbing vibration from lateral tool movement, and stabilizing/centralizing the sensor within the central aperture. Also, the novel drill collar allows the operator to run lower fluid rates while drilling, minimizing formation damage from fluid invasion.
