  • Patent number: 8862264
Abstract: In a supplying system using containers for supplying groups of filter elements to smoking article assembling equipment, each container has a unique source of information that travels with the container. An unloader receives and unloads the containers. An automated data reader is proximate the unloader for reading the source of information for each container before it is unloaded. A computerized controller uses the information read by the automated data reader to obtain information from a database. The information from the database is compared to information from another source to verify that the proper filter elements are being supplied. The computerized controller allows, or instructs, the unloader to unload correctly supplied filter elements, and stops the unloader from unloading incorrectly supplied filter elements.

  • Patent number: 6013318
Abstract: A method for applying coatings to substrates using combustion chemical vapor deposition by mixing together a reagent and a carrier solution to form a reagent mixture, igniting the reagent mixture to create a flame, or flowing the reagent mixture through a plasma torch, in which the reagent is at least partially vaporized into a vapor phase, and contacting the vapor phase of the reagent to a substrate resulting in the deposition, at least in part from the vapor phase, of a coating of the reagent which can be controlled so as to have a preferred orientation on the substrate, and an apparatus to accomplish this method.

  • Patent number: 5863604
Abstract: A method for applying coatings to substrates using combustion chemical vapor deposition by mixing together a reagent and a carrier solution to form a reagent mixture, igniting the reagent mixture to create a flame, or flowing the reagent mixture through a plasma torch, in which majority of the reagent is vaporized into a vapor phase, and contacting the vapor phase of the reagent to a substrate resulting in the deposition, at least in part from the vapor phase, of a coating of the reagent which can be controlled so as to have a preferred orientation on the substrate.
