Patent number: 11979679Abstract: A system for merging a plurality of image sources into a single image stream defines a predistortion image mask for each source. Each mask defines a distorted image space to account for distortion in the display optics, and indicates a region or regions in the desired output image where one merge method should be used versus another (e.g., overlay vs. replace). Each source mask may have a separate level of granularity according to the requirements of the included image and corresponding distortion.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2021Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: Rockwell Collins, Inc.Inventors: Brent Hansen, Michael A. Ropers

Patent number: 11462192Abstract: A system and method for monitoring the status of a pixelated display defines one or more pixel locations or clusters of pixels to be dithered. A monitor determines if the specified pixels or clusters of pixels demonstrate dithering. Detection of the expected dithering indicates a functional display while failure to detect the dithering indicates a failed display. Brightness levels are monitored to detect a failure in brightness leveling. Brightness is monitored at the same locations.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2021Date of Patent: October 4, 2022Assignee: Rockwell Collins, Inc.Inventors: Joshua Gerdes, Donald E Mosier, Christopher A. Patent number: 9554303Abstract: A system and method for dynamically changing the quality of service (QoS) for a subscriber of a cellular radio system. Bandwidth-on-Demand (BoD) enables the subscriber to dynamically switch to higher bandwidth and to enable a higher throughput. This may be for a limited time or amount of data, for example. The initiation may be by the subscriber, carrier, sponsor, or automatically by an application. The QoS increase may be dynamically priced in a kind of auction. The wireless device may contact the policy servers of a multiple network operator (MNO), which in turn contacts the Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) server in the MNO's core network. The policy server contacts the scheduler on the serving basestation which then determines whether to allocate more resources (i.e. bandwidth in the form of subcarriers, resource blocks, resource elements, timeslots) to the subscriber. The initiation may start a timer or data counter.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2014Date of Patent: January 24, 2017Assignee: PLUSN LLCInventors: Richard E. Hitt, Per Von Zelowitz, Brent Hansen Horine, Karthikesh Raju

Patent number: 7214906Abstract: An apparatus for the independent control of the amount of heat produced by a right and a left side heated hand grip includes a control panel with various input buttons and a pair of LEDS that each indicates a relative power setting of one of the heated hand grips. A microprocessor receives input instructions from the input buttons and provides a first pulsed DC output having a desired duty cycle to one of the heated hand grips and a second pulsed DC output having either the same or a different duty cycle to a remaining one of the heated hand grips, thereby controlling the amount of heat produced by each respective heated hand grip. This improves comfort. Reverse polarity protection, a return to previous power settings, including a remembrance of a differential between the two heated hand grips, and automatic shutoff when battery voltage reaches a predetermined value are described.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2005Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Inventors: K Brent Hansen, Michael Rodney Pollard

Publication number: 20070087186Abstract: The present invention pertains to privacy film that can be used with documents. The privacy film has a light transmissive, polymeric base sheet that has opposing first and second surfaces. A plurality of light directing elements protrudes from the first surface of the base sheet. The base sheet can be constructed of a first polymeric material. The light directing elements can be constructed of a second polymeric material. The first and second polymeric material may be the same material. The light directing elements are substantially constant in its cross-section dimension and disposed substantially parallel to each other.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2005Publication date: April 19, 2007Inventors: Graham Clarke, Paul Graham, Brent Hansen, Travis Hoium, David Slama

Publication number: 20060157381Abstract: A carrier tape includes a longitudinal strip having a plurality of component receiving pockets positioned therein. The pocket depth is greater than a thickness of the longitudinal strip. Adjacent pockets are spaced apart by a distance less than approximately five times the thickness of the longitudinal strip. Sidewalls separating adjacent pockets have a height greater than the pocket depth minus a height of a component which the pockets are configured to receive. The carrier tape is produced by providing a rotatable tool and a nip roll having a conformable outer circumferential surface opposed to the tool. The outer circumferential surface of the tool includes projections for forming the pockets. A polymer web is introduced into a nip between the tool and the nip roll, and embossed with the projections on the circumferential surface of the tool.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 20, 2005Publication date: July 20, 2006Inventors: James Adams, William Bryan, Daniel Cronch, Jose de Souza, Bryan Feisel, Carsten Franke, Brent Hansen, Mitchell Huang, Nelson Sewall, David Slama, Joseph Weiler

Publication number: 20060003307Abstract: The invention is a display article having a flexible substrate which includes a writing surface capable of being used as a dry erase surface. A peripheral edge extends around the writing surface. A flexible framing strip is affixed to the writing surface at a position proximate to the peripheral edge. One embodiment of the display article can be made by forming a substrate having a writing surface. The substrate defines a periphery edge, a back surface, and a plurality of mushroom shaped hooks extending from the back surface substantially over the entire back surface. The writing surface is capable of being used as a dry erase surface. At least a portion of the periphery of the writing substrate is folded over to form a framing strip having a plurality of exposed mushroom shaped hooks. The framing strip is secured to the writing surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2005Publication date: January 5, 2006Inventors: Jonathan Hester, Michael Annen, Brent Hansen, Timothy Quinn, John Emmel

Publication number: 20050079101Abstract: Sample processing devices that include transmissive layers and control layers to reduce or eliminate cross-talk between process chambers in the processing device are disclosed. The transmissive layers may transmit significant portions of signal light and/or interrogation light while the control layers block significant portions of signal light and/or interrogation light. Methods of manufacturing processing devices that include transmissive layers and control layers are also disclosed. The methods may involve continuous forming processes including co-extrusion of materials to form the transmissive layer and control layer in a processing device, followed by formation of the process chambers in the control layer. Alternatively, the methods may involve extrusion of materials for the control layer, followed by formation of process chambers in the control layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2003Publication date: April 14, 2005Inventors: Joel Dufresne, Bryan Feisel, Theresa Gerten, Brent Hansen, David Nguyen
