  • Patent number: 11029261
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for direct multiplication Fourier transform millimeter wave spectroscopy are disclosed herein. A sample method includes generating at least one pulse of microwave electromagnetic energy. The sample method also includes frequency-multiplying the pulse(s) to generate at least one frequency-multiplied pulse and filtering at least one spurious harmonic of the frequency-multiplied pulse to generate at least one filtered pulse. The spurious harmonic is generated by frequency-multiplying the pulse. The method also includes exciting a sample using the filtered pulse. • Patent number: 10107744
Abstract: Apparatus and techniques for broadband Fourier transform spectroscopy can include frequency hopping spread-spectrum spectroscopy approaches. For example, an excitation source power can be spread over a specified frequency bandwidth, such as by applying a sequence of short, transform-limited pulses to a sample. Each pulse can include a specified carrier frequency, and a corresponding bandwidth of the individual pulse can be determined by a frequency domain representation when Fourier transformed. A series of short excitation pulses can be used to create an excitation sequence, such as to deliver a specified or desired amount of power to the sample, such as by having the excitation source enabled for a time comparable to a free induction decay (FID) dephasing time.

  • Patent number: 10080411
Abstract: A backpack for carrying an item by a user includes a backpack body constructed of a flexible material. A first zipper fastener is on the backpack body and is actuatable between an opened position and a closed position. The backpack includes an accessory body constructed of a flexible material and positioned within an inner main cavity of the backpack body and borders an exterior of the backpack. The backpack includes a second zipper fastener on a first portion of the accessory body that borders the exterior of the backpack. The second zipper fastener is actuatable between an opened position and a closed position. The backpack includes a third zipper fastener on the second portion of the accessory body that borders the inner main cavity of the backpack body. The third zipper fastener is actuatable between an opened position and a closed position.

  • Patent number: 9921170
Abstract: Examples herein include apparatus and techniques that can be used to perform rotational spectroscopy on gas-phase samples. Such techniques can include using a spectrometer providing frequency synthesis and pulse modulation to provide excitation (e.g., pump or probe pulses) of a gas-phase sample at mm-wave frequencies. Synthesis of such mm-wave frequencies can include use of a frequency multiplier, such as an active multiplier chain (AMC). A free induction decay (FID) elicited by the excitation or other time-domain information can be obtained from the sample, such as down-converted and digitized. A frequency domain representation of the digitized information, such as a Fourier transformed representation, can be used to provide a rotational spectrum.

  • Patent number: 8230987
Abstract: A fluid diverter comprising: a fluid diverting structure having a top, fluid striking surface having side and rear walls and a forward mouth, the side and rear walls preventing fluid from spilling over edges of the surface as such fluid exits through the mouth; and a magnet assembly mounted to a bottom surface of the fluid diverting structure. The magnet assembly, comprises: a magnet, and a pivot structure affixed to the magnet and pivotally mounted to the bottom surface of the fluid diverting structure for pivoting the magnet assembly relative to the fluid diverting structure about an axis to pitch the fluid diverting structure to a desired pitch angle and then once at such desired pitch angle, locking the fluid diverting structure at such desired pitch angle.

  • Publication number: 20060207134
Abstract: A multiple-sheet edge-lit animation display system is disclosed. The system utilizes a plurality of internally-reflective light-transmitting sheets as components of a stack. Each sheet in the stack has a distinct pattern applied to its surface that represents one frame of a multiple-frame animated image. By sequentially illuminating all the sheets in the stack, the animated image is displayed. Each sheet in the stack has its own dedicated light source instead of a single light source that is mechanically sequenced through all the sheets. This allows a fully-electronic design with no moving parts. A programmable microcontroller is used to sequentially illuminate the sheets electronically. The more advanced preferred implementation uses the microcontroller to perform additional decision-making and timing functions.
