Patent number: 10276932Abstract: An antenna positioning system has a spindle with a bearing surface extending upward from a base. An azimuth gear is centered on the base around the spindle. An antenna support rotatably supports the antenna to allow elevational rotation of the antenna. The antenna support also has a recess with a shape complementary to the bearing surface of the spindle so that the antenna support is rotatably supported on the spindle to allow azimuth rotation of the antenna. The bearing surface and recess can be substantially conical in shape. An azimuth motor on the antenna support engages the azimuth gear to control azimuth rotation of the antenna.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2017Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: Winegard CompanyInventors: Brent Lee Venghaus, Orrin Ryan Lanz

Patent number: 10158169Abstract: A mobile antenna system has a dome with an internal space for enclosing an antenna, and tabs spaced around and extending outward from the circular edge of the dome. A base supports the antenna and includes a side wall extending upward to define a circular edge abutting the edge of the dome. Tabs are spaced around and extend outward from the circular edge of the base in vertical alignment to contact the tabs of the dome. The dome and base are removably secured together by a locking ring having an inner diameter large enough to fit over the edges of the dome and base. This ring has a set of L-shaped slots, each having a vertical slot segment with a width to receive the aligned tabs, and a horizontal slot segment continuing from the vertical slot segment.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2017Date of Patent: December 18, 2018Assignee: Winegard CompanyInventors: Brent Lee Venghaus, Reed Alan Wagenbach, Jared David Schmidgall

Patent number: 9634400Abstract: An antenna has a waveguide horn extending from a main reflector. A dielectric tube extends from the distal end of the waveguide horn to support a sub-reflector in the focal region of the main reflector. An insert is placed into the dielectric tube to seat against the distal end of the dielectric tube. A fastener secures the insert to the sub-reflector, thereby securing the sub-reflector to the distal end of the dielectric tube. The surface of the insert serves as a continuation of the sub-reflector. The dielectric tube can be equipped with an inwardly-extending collar about its distal end to engage the insert.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2014Date of Patent: April 25, 2017Assignee: Winegard CompanyInventors: Alexander Anatoli Zelenski, Brent Lee Venghaus

Patent number: 9000999Abstract: An enclosure system for antennas including satellite dish antennas and single frequency, narrowband and broadband ones. The system includes at least upper and lower housing portions mounted to each other for rotational movement about a first axis inclined to the vertical. The portions have respective, peripheral sections extending about the first axis and substantially perpendicular to the inclined, first axis. The satellite antenna dish is mounted to the upper housing portion to extend substantially about a second axis substantially intersecting the first axis at an inclined angle. The upper housing portion can be rotated about the inclined, first axis relative to the lower housing portion wherein the second axis of the dish essentially forms or defines a cone about the first axis to position the plane of the dish rim portion in any of a plurality of orientations essentially between a substantially horizontal one and a substantially vertical one.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2013Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Winegard CompanyInventors: Brent Lee Venghaus, Orrin Ryan Lanz

Patent number: 8657250Abstract: A vibration and shock isolation mount for a mobile satellite antenna system securable to a transport vehicle such as a truck or boat. The isolation mount includes three isolators attachable between the mobile satellite antenna system and the transport vehicle. The three isolators are spaced substantially evenly about the central axis of the antenna system. Each isolator has a central spring element extending along a first axis between two block members wherein the spring element permits the two block members to move in virtually all direction relative to each other including toward and away from each other along the first axis of the spring element. Each isolator further includes two attaching members for respectively securing the two block members to the mobile satellite antenna system and the transport vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2011Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Assignee: Winegard CompanyInventor: Brent Lee Venghaus
