  • Patent number: 9827453
Abstract: A container holding a fire suppressing powder has a top, a cylindrical sidewall and a bottom with a hole, the bottom having a score line defining a segment. An explosive material housing containing an explosive material is mounted to a head of a mounting member. The mounting member has a lower portion smaller in cross-sectional dimension than the head, depending downward from the head and extending through the hole in the bottom. A retainer is secured around the lower portion of the mounting member below the bottom to secure the mounting member to the bottom. A fuse extends through the hole in the bottom, a passage in the mounting member, and into the explosive material housing. A plate is mounted within the container a selected distance below the top, the plate being movable a short distance toward and away from the top in response to ignition of the explosive material.

  • Publication number: 20170328574
Abstract: A system for heating and/or cooking food whose upper heating limit is adjustable. An energy setting assembly is provided with the system that includes a knob, a restrictor plate, and a limit pin. The limit pin is selectively inserted into openings formed along multiple locations in the restrictor plate, where the openings follow a generally curved path. The knob rotatably mounts over and is generally coaxial with the restrictor plate. Rotating the knob regulates heat output of the system. Web members are formed on the knob and that project in a radial direction from a receptacle in the knob. The web members come into interfering contact with the limit pin when knob is rotated to a designated orientation, so that strategically locating the limit pin, limits angular movement of the knob to the designated orientation, thereby limiting a maximum energy input to the system.

  • Patent number: 9440101
Abstract: A fire extinguisher apparatus and related system is described for automatically suppressing stovetop fires. The fire extinguisher apparatus includes a canister restrained in a first location where the canister is operable to suppress fires on a rear burner of a stovetop. The canister is biased and movable to a second location where the canister is operable to suppress fires on a front burner of the stovetop. A trigger mechanism is provided for automatically moving the canister to the second location in response to a fire on the front burner. The fire extinguisher system includes an arrangement of fire extinguisher apparatuses wherein canisters are movable between the apparatuses to prevent collisions with external obstacles.

  • Patent number: 9130310
Abstract: An electrical connector for testing of missile launch rail is provided. The electrical contacts of the connector move from a rear disengaged position to forward engaged positions via the energy of a compressed spring. The connector base has rail mounts for securing to a missile launch rail. A housing attaches to the base and houses a plunger, an insulator, electrical contacts, and a tube, which move forward and aft as a unit. A knob on a rear tube end enables user to limit the initial impact of the electrical contacts on contact pins or striker points of missile launch rail. The connector can provide electrical connection with launch rail pins as rail pins recede into the missile launch rail. Electrical contact position is governed, in part, by locating pins which ride in a track cut into an outer surface of the tube and move with rotation of an indexing ring.

  • Patent number: 9044627
Abstract: An automatic self-contained fire suppression system and method are provided herein. Stovetop fires are a well known residential and commercial hazard. The fire suppression system described mounts on a back wall or back splash above the stove mount. By mounting on the back wall, the system is free from interconnections with apparatus mounted above the stovetop, such as hoods, microwave ovens, lights, fans, and vents. Using a hopper containing fire suppressing matter, a power spring, drive shaft, and a bladed spinner, fires suppressing powder is distributed over the stovetop surface. The fire suppression action is triggered automatically via failure of a heat sensitive frangible link.

  • Patent number: 8622147
Abstract: Stovetop fires are among the more prevalent of resident fire hazards and smoke detectors are among the most prevalent and economical forms of residential fire alarms. Automatic stovetop fire extinguishers can prevent property damage and even personal injury; however, these stovetop fire extinguishers may also limit smoke emissions and the subsequent detection of smoke. While an initial fire may be efficiently subdued by an automatic stovetop fire extinguisher, it is often desirable to alert present and future occupants of a fire hazardous condition. A sound based fire alarm system and method are described herein, which detects a sound burst emitted upon deployment of an automatic stovetop fire extinguisher and triggers a continuous fire alarm to alert occupants of a potentially fire hazardous condition. Alarm signals can be audible, visual, or both. The system may be a stand alone system and use battery power for affordability and ease of installation.

  • Patent number: 6073660
Abstract: The reed employs two spaced apart cylinders with slots in their outer surfaces. The slots extend around the axis of each cylinder a given distance. The slots of each cylinder flare out from each other from one edge to an opposite edge. Dents are supported for movement between the two cylinders and have guides located in the slots of each cylinder. The two cylinders can be rotated together in one direction or in an opposite direction for causing the slots to move the guides and hence the dents apart or together to obtain changes in the width of the fabric along the warp direction. This change in width will cause the warp density to vary along the length of the fabric while maintaining continuous warp yarn. This feature also allows warp strands of different cross-section to be woven.
