Patent number: 11571995Abstract: A seat configured for removably securing to a track includes a quick-release fitting for operation by hand to releasably secure a bottom end of a seat leg to a floor-mounted track for facile adjustment and removal of the seat. A threaded stud includes a shaft portion arranged through an opening in an end of the seat leg and a radially extending base. A pivot mechanism has a through-hole arranged around the shaft portion of the threaded stud. A first transverse member and a second transverse member each extend transversely from the pivot mechanism in opposite directions along a pivot axis. A lever is configured to pivot about the pivot axis causing the threaded stud to move up or down via the pivot mechanism, which raises and lowers the radially extending base for alternately securing the seat leg to the track and releasing the seat leg from the track.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2020Date of Patent: February 7, 2023Assignee: Textron Innovations, Inc.Inventor: Brent William Last

Patent number: 11148812Abstract: An upholstery-guided footrest includes a footrest mechanically coupled to a seat. The footrest is configured for moving between a stowed position and one or more deployed positions. A flexible member has a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The first end is fastened to the seat and the second end is fastened to the footrest such that the flexible member supports the footrest during stowing. The flexible member bends around a frontside of the seat and is configured to guide and support the footrest into a stowed position.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2019Date of Patent: October 19, 2021Assignee: Textron Innovations, Inc.Inventors: Brent William Last, Gregory Lynn Ellis, Brandon Riley Shannon

Patent number: 10842282Abstract: A footrest system is disclosed. The footrest cushion is supported by a frame that is hinge-mounted onto the front of a chair frame. The rotation of the footrest frame by a user creates, through a mechanical system, rotation in a spool. The spool is wound with first and second lines, each being wound in the reverse direction as the other. The lines are connected through rerouting systems and then anchored to the translating member such that they pull the member out upon a deployment, and return the member back in when the footrest is retracted.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2019Date of Patent: November 24, 2020Assignee: Textron Innovations, Inc.Inventor: Brent William Last

Patent number: 10596926Abstract: A seat tracking system includes a longitudinal tracking member mechanically coupled to a first portion of a seat, and a tracking block mechanically coupled to a second portion of the seat. The tracking block includes a bore that is adapted to receive the tracking member, such that the tracking member slides within the tracking block to enable the first portion and the second portion to slide longitudinally with respect to each other. At least one stand is mechanically coupled to the second portion of the seat and has a through-hole that is adapted to receive a lateral tracking member, which is mechanically coupled to the first portion of the seat. The lateral tracking member enables the first portion and the second portion to slide longitudinally with respect to each other. A swivel plate mechanically couples the at least one stand to a seat base such that the seat is rotatable.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2018Date of Patent: March 24, 2020Assignee: Textron Innovations, Inc.Inventors: Brent William Last, Gregory Lynn Ellis

Patent number: 10391915Abstract: A system and method are disclosed which prevent structural damage to a chair footrest in an aircraft. Aircraft typically include release pins which when pulled out of apertures at different angular positions on arms existing on each side of the seat frame enable a user to set the footrest at different angular positions. To avoid overloading, the pin has been included in a pivotable housing on an axle. Resistance against rotation of the pin is provided using a torsion spring. This enables the resistance to be set at a level that allows the pin to break out to prevent overloading.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2018Date of Patent: August 27, 2019Assignee: Textron Innovations, Inc.Inventor: Brent William Last
