  • Publication number: 20120157989
Abstract: A catheter and catheter system can use energy tailored for remodeling and/or removal of target material along a body lumen, often of atherosclerotic material of a blood vessel of a patient. An elongate flexible catheter body with a radially expandable structure may have a plurality of electrodes or other electrosurgical energy delivery surfaces to radially engage atherosclerotic material when the structure expands. • Publication number: 20120095461
Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods are provided for the generation and control of energy delivery in a dosage to elicit a therapeutic response in diseased tissue. A balloon catheter can have electrodes attached to a power generator and controller such that the balloon and electrodes contact tissue during energy treatment. Energy selectively may be applied to tissue based on measured impedance to achieve gentle heating. Calibration of the apparatus and identification of attached accessories by computing the circuit impedance prior to energy dosage facilitate regulation of power delivery about a set point. Energy delivery can be controlled to achieve substantially uniform bulk tissue temperature distribution. Energy delivery may beneficially affect nerve activity.

  • Patent number: 5745442
Abstract: An exclusively digital timing engine that measures extremely short time intervals for use in time of flight systems such as laser range finding systems. This exclusively digital timing engine minimizes the use of high speed, high cost components by employing a novel time multiplexing scheme to execute each of the primary time of flight functions: frequency synthesis, range gating, and time of flight interval measurement. In addition, the timing engine incorporates a random time delay scheme which enhances the resolution of the time interval measurement.

  • Patent number: 5566088
Abstract: A tester for multiple types of radios has a first group of generic test elements common to all types of radios to be tested and second groups of test elements specific to each one of the multiple types of radios. Each of the second groups of test elements is mounted within a pluggable module for insertion into the tester where it couples to a common bus accessed by all of the other test elements and by the controlling computer. Each pluggable module contains a specific identifier which, when accessed by the controlling computer initiates a stored program which causes the computer, via the bus, to couple the various test elements into a configuration required to test the radio type associated with that identifier. The system is very compact and conveniently uses a lap top computer as the controlling element.

  • Patent number: 4958294
Abstract: A swept microwave power measurement system and method capable of performing accurate high performance absolute power measurements on the fly for integration with a scalar analyzer. The system interpolates a calibration factor of the detector at a given frequency point in the sweep between previously established calibration factors at various predetermined frequencies which are stored in memory and then determines an "apparent" power level of the input signal at a standard frequency. The interpolated calibration factor is applied to the "apparent" power level to determine the "absolute" power level at the given frequency point in the sweep.

  • Patent number: 4876654
Abstract: True RMS power demodulation system and method for a modulated RF signal uses a DC coupled linear amplifier and linearizes the diode detector prior to demodulation. The demodulated signal is proportional to the difference of RF powers such that the network measurement is unaffected by the modulation depth at the power sensor which can be degraded by RF feedthrough or the presence of an interfering signal or noise.

  • Patent number: 4794325
Abstract: Power from an alternating signal having a frequency variable in a wide and relatively high range such as approximately 10 megahertz to 40 gigahertz is indicated by a detector. To calibrate the detector, an alternating signal is introduced from a source to a bridge including a regulating member such as a thermistor. The bridge also receives a direct voltage. The thermistor is maintained at a particular impedance such as 400 ohms, regardless of the power provided by the alternating signal, by varying the magnitude of the direct voltage. The alternating signal, which is regulated in accordance with the dc voltage, is also introduced to the detector. The detector output is introduced to a data processing unit which processes the detector output to indicate the power from the alternating signal. The output from the data processing unit is converted to an analog signal which is combined with the signal from the bridge to produce a resultant signal.
