  • Publication number: 20190169376
Abstract: The disclosure concerns compositions and methods to improve remote phosphor optical properties in polycarbonate. One method includes combining a phosphor component and a polycarbonate component to form a phosphor-polycarbonate composition; and at a fixed phosphor concentration, combining the phosphor-polycarbonate composition with a diffusing agent comprising polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), wherein the diffusing agent diffuses light, and wherein the phosphor-polycarbonate composition exhibits an increase in chromaticity coordinate (CIEx) as determined by CIE 1931 or increase in CIE 1976 (u?,v?) of at least about 5% relative to a substantially similar reference composition in the absence of PTFE.

  • Patent number: 7649032
Abstract: A polycarbonate composition comprising a polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer resin and a glass flake additive wherein the polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer resin has a silicone content in the range of from 3.5 weight % to 7 weight % based on the total weight of the polycarbonate composition and wherein the polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer has a haze of less than 10% and wherein the glass flake additive is present in the range of 0.025 weight % to 0.70 weight % based on the total weight of the polycarbonate composition.

  • Patent number: 6822041
Abstract: The present invention relates to a black resin composition comprising: a polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer resin, the copolymer comprising polycarbonate units and polyorganosiloxane units wherein the median siloxane domain size is greater than 100 nanometers; and a colorant combination comprising at least one organic colorant and at least one inorganic colorant, wherein the combination of the organic and inorganic colorant results in a black molded part with an L* value of less than about 29 and C* value of less than about 1.5 (specular component included) or L* value of less than 8 and C* value of less than about 3 (specular component excluded).
