Patent number: 9182937Abstract: A dual-screen user device and methods are disclosed for revealing a combination of desktops on single and multiple screens. A determined number of desktops and/or running applications are displayed on dual screen displays conditioned upon inputs received and the state of the device. Desktop displays and applications can be shifted between the screens by user gestures, and/or selected desktop displays. Applications can be moved off of the screens by other user gestures and therefore hidden. Hidden desktops and screens can be re-displayed by other gestures. Desktops and applications are arranged in a window stack that represents a logical order therefore providing a user with an intuitive ability to manage multiple applications and desktops running simultaneously. The user gestures prevent the user from having to open and close the running desktops and applications that otherwise may require laborious efforts by the user to manage the multiple running desktops and applications.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2011Date of Patent: November 10, 2015Assignee: Z124Inventors: Sanjiv Sirpal, Brett Faulk, Paul Reeves, Alexander de Paz, Rod Schrock, Maxim Marintchenko, Robert Csiki, Eric Freedman, Jared Ficklin, Denise Burton, Misty Cripps, Gregg Wygonik

Patent number: 8614885Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed that is adapted to reside in a bay of an electronic device having an interface adapted to engage a suitable structure. In an embodiment, the apparatus lacks the suitable connector to engage the device bay interface. Alternatively, the apparatus is adapted to reside in the bay of the electronic device and is configured to couple to only a portion of an electrical interface in the device bay such that the apparatus is charged when it resides in the device bay. In an additional embodiment, a game controller comprises first and second portions comprising respective interfaces and a hinge configured to enable the portions to move with respect to one another.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2011Date of Patent: December 24, 2013Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Mark Solomon, Earl Moore, Jonathan R. Harris, Paul J. Doczy, Ronnie Anderson, Brett Faulk, L. Joy Griebenow

Publication number: 20130175421Abstract: A support is disclosed that attaches to and is carried by the device that it supports. The support incorporates a u-shaped supporting member that generally extends across the length of the device, and is attached to the device using independent sidepieces that conform to the shape of the device, creating a press-fit. The sidepieces are hingedly attached to the supporting member using constant-torque positional hinges that allow for a customizable viewing angle when the device is being supported. In addition, the support is configured so that the device can be supported in two different orientations, commonly referred to as portrait and landscape, and the support is designed to support objects that are pushed and touched. Finally, the support has a minimal impact on the device's outer surfaces, so that additional attachments designed for the device may be used in conjunction with the support.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 9, 2013Publication date: July 11, 2013Inventors: Brett Faulk, Rod Shrock, Art Villarreal
