  • Publication number: 20230366333
Abstract: A rocker shaft for oiling engine components includes an outer tube and an insert extending through the outer tube. The insert defines a plurality of lumens. Each of the plurality of lumens extends through the insert and is configured to receive oil from an oil pump. An engine system includes a cylinder block, a cylinder head connected to the cylinder block, an overhead structure connected to the cylinder head, and a rocker shaft connected to the overhead structure such that a first end of a rocker arm connected to the rocker shaft is positioned above a cylinder of the cylinder block. A method of manufacturing the rocker shaft includes providing an outer tube and an insert, placing the insert in the outer tube, and aligning each of a plurality of lumens defined by the insert with a plurality of outer oil holes defined by the outer tube.

  • Publication number: 20230313714
Abstract: Valve actuation mechanisms are provided for hydraulically controlling cylinder deactivation and variable valve lift operations. The valve actuation mechanisms include a hydraulic circuit that is selectively pressurized to secure a reciprocating member in an extended position to transfer motion from the camshaft lobe to the intake valves or exhaust valves, and vented to allow the reciprocating member to reciprocate.

  • Patent number: 11047290
Abstract: A control system (10) used for an engine (14) having at least one cylinder (18) is provided for a piston cooling nozzle (PCN (12)). Included in the control system (10) are a main liquid rifle (20) configured to deliver a liquid to the at least one cylinder (18) of the engine (14), and a PCN liquid rifle (22) disposed inside the main liquid rifle (20) for directing the liquid from the main liquid rifle (20) to the PCN (12). The control system (10) causes the liquid to be jetted into the at least one cylinder (18) of the engine (14) for lowering a temperature of the engine (14).

  • Patent number: 7971579
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing intake air and exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine includes a chamber having an inlet to supply a stream of intake air, and a second inlet that receives an exhaust gas flow. The second inlet includes a section extending into the chamber of the mixer that has an outer surface that is elongated in cross-section along a longitudinal axis of the chamber in the direction of flow of the flowable media. The mixing apparatus mixes the intake air and exhaust gases without high pressure head loss across the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20090320632
Abstract: A gear meshing system is disclosed. The gear meshing system includes a pair of gears engaged with each other through a first plurality and a second plurality of teeth thereon. Each gear has a mark which is oriented in a predetermined relationship with a timing slot on the gear. Each gear of the pair of gears is identical to the other. Accordingly, by utilizing a marking scheme in accordance with the present invention the same gear part can be used with multiple shafts and thereby assure accurate meshing/timing upon assembly. Accordingly, the need for additional part numbers will be minimized and excessive part proliferation will be avoided.
